Abstract:
An electrophotographic apparatus of this invention includes a stacking section (2) for cut sheet; a stacking section (4) for fanfold paper; a feed section (6) for supplying printing paper which is cut sheet or fanfold paper from one of the stacking sections (2,4) via one of different supplying paths; an exposure unit (44) for forming an electrostatic latent image on a photosensitive drum (40); a developing unit (46) for developing the latent image into a toner image; a belt conveyer (60) for conveying the printing paper received from the feed section (6) along a common feeding path, a transferring unit (48) for the toner image of the photosensitive drum (40) onto the printing paper; a fixing unit (122) for fixing the transferred toner image on the printing paper; an ejecting section (10) for receiving the printed printing paper from the belt conveyer (60); and a cutting device (172) for cutting apart the printed fanfold paper at the perforation line thereof. The fanfold paper left behind on the common feeding path after the cutting operation is set back to a position which does not obstruct supply of cut paper in the feed section (6).
Abstract:
An air filter (30, 50, 60) for removing smoke and toner dust from air in an electrophotographic/electrostatic recording apparatus, the air filter comprising: a first filter unit (31, 51, 61) disposed at the air inlet side of the air filter, and at least a second filter unit (32, 52, 62) disposed at the outlet side of said first filter unit; the first filter unit (31, 51, 61) comprising electrostatically charged fibrous material having a characteristic of attracting charged toner particles, the first filter unit having a specified opening size approximately equal to or larger than average toner size; and the second filter unit (32, 52, 62) being made of fibrous material without an electrostatic charge, and having an opening size smaller than that of the first filter unit.
Abstract:
An apparatus for fusing a powder image onto a copy sheet which includes a plurality of heating elements (66-78). Selected heating elements of the apparatus are energized in an ordered sequence corresponding to the surface area of the powder image being fused.
Abstract:
A toner image forming device includes a first toner image forming section including a charged first image holding member, a first exposing unit that emits light onto the first image holding member to form a latent image thereon, and a first developing unit that develops the latent image by a black toner to form a toner image, a second toner image forming section including a charged second image holding member, a second exposing unit that emits light onto the second image holding member to form a latent image thereon, and a second developing unit that develops the latent image by a toner of color other than black to form a toner image, and a controller that performs control so that the number of toners that the second toner image forming section uses is larger than the number of toners that the first toner image forming section uses.
Abstract:
Provided is a fixing device including a transparent belt, a press roller that is rotated with being opposed to and contacting with the transparent belt, and transports a recording medium interposed therebetween, a press member-cum-optical system that contacts with the transparent belt from an opposite side to the press roller, forms a press region for pressing a toner image formed on the recording medium in cooperation with the press roller during transport of the recording medium, and collects laser light on the toner image in the press region in a transport direction of the recording medium, and a laser light irradiation unit that irradiates the press member-cum-optical system with laser light.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an electrophotographic toner comprising a polyester resin as binder resin and a colorant, said polyester resin being the condensation product of at least one polyhydric alcohol with at least one polybasic acid, wherein said at least one polyhydric alcohol comprises cyclohexanedimethanol, said toner having a loss modulus of from 2×103 Pa to 3×104 Pa at 110° C. and being irradiated with only laser light for fixing. According to toner of the invention, high quality toner images can be fixed with desired fastness and without white spots.
Abstract:
A fixing device includes a fixing unit and a switching unit. The fixing unit includes an emitting unit that emits light and a housing that houses the emitting unit. The fixing unit fixes a toner image to a recording medium by emitting the light to a surface of the recording medium, the recording medium having the toner image formed thereon and having been transported to a predetermined fixing position that is away from the housing. The switching unit switches a state of the fixing device from a first state in which the housing and the recording medium are positioned away from each other to a second state in which the surface of the recording medium at the fixing position is sealed with the housing.
