PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system that utilizes MEMS devices to pass and/or interrupt current between electrical main circuits and branch circuits.SOLUTION: An electrical distribution system 40 includes at least one circuit breaker device having: an electrical interruption system provided with an electrical pathway; at least one micro electro-mechanical switch (MEMS) device electrically coupled in the electrical pathway; at least one hybrid arcless limiting technology (HALT) connection; and at least one control connection. A HALT circuit member is electrically coupled to the HALT connection on the circuit breaker device, and a controller is electrically coupled to the control connection on the circuit breaker device. The controller is configured and disposed to selectively connect the HALT circuit member and the at least one circuit breaker device via the HALT connection to control electrical current flowing through at least one circuit breaker device.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved arc-failure circuit breaker in which the sensing leads 96 are not welded to the bimetal piece 52 and also do not pass through the partition wall 12 of the circuit breaker. SOLUTION: The cable conductor 60 which passes through the current transformers 90, 92 is a cable bus bar 62 that is relatively rigid or a cable shunt 262 that is relatively flexible. The pair of sensing leads are connected to the cable bus bar at the parts which are separated away from each other and extend to the circuit board 100. The sensing leads do not cross the partition wall 12.

A system for protecting an electrical circuit comprises an electrical protection switching module comprising: neutral and live input terminals for electrical connection to a supply of the circuit, a neutral output terminal for electrical connection to a load of the circuit, a live output terminal, and a casing including: at least one movable contact which can be opened for disconnecting the load from the supply, an electrically controlled actuator arranged to open the movable contact, and a fault detector for causing the actuator to open the movable contact upon a detection of a fault in the circuit. An arc fault module comprising a casing including an arc fault detection circuit electrically connected to at least one of the input or output electrical terminals of the switching module for detecting an arc fault in the circuit. In case of detecting an arc fault, the arc fault module is configured to generate an electrical control signal for controlling the actuator of the switching module to open the movable contact. The system comprises an electrical connector for providing the electrical control signal to the switching module.

Abstract:
Electrical load controls are provided which include an electrical switch assembly and a fault protection device within a common housing. The switch assembly includes an actuator, and is responsive to actuation of the actuator to switch ON or OFF electricity to the load. The protection device automatically responds to a fault condition by overriding the switch assembly by automatically blocking electrical connection between phase input and output terminals and neutral input and output terminals of the load control. The actuator includes a single external interface element. In one embodiment, actuation of the actuator switches ON or OFF electricity via control of the fault protection device, and in another embodiment, movement of the interface away from the housing exposes within the housing an internal user interface for the fault protection device.
