Abstract:
This invention provides, for each apparatus, one communication control unit that generically controls communication between a relay server and a communication client or a communication server in each apparatus. More specifically, each communication control unit creates a communication socket that designates a predetermined port and an IP address indicating a local apparatus, and exchanges data between the communication server and the communication client via the communication socket, adjusting and relaying communication data between HTTP and the communication protocol of each of the communication server and the communication client.
Abstract:
A management device for an image processing apparatus includes a communication interface and a hardware processor. The communication interface transmits and receives a job to be executed in the image processing apparatus. Before transmission and reception of a job, the hardware processor transmits data on a communication path of the job for measuring a communication speed to obtain information representing a communication speed of a communication path for the job transmitted and received by the communication interface, and sets a timeout time of an image processing apparatus that executes the job, based on the obtained information representing a communication speed.
Abstract:
A communication apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes an image data receiving unit which receives image data; a related data receiving unit which receives related data which relates to the image data; a data writing unit which writes the related data received by the related data receiving unit to a first storage unit; and a setting unit which is configured to set a write prohibition setting which prohibits writing of the related data to the first storage unit.
Abstract:
Support for automatic folding functionality in facsimile (“fax”) machines is described. In one aspect, a method for managing folding by a fax machine comprises sending a signal from a receiver fax machine (“receiver”) indicating that the receiver has folding capability. The receiver receives a signal that commands the receiver to enable its folding capability. In embodiments, the capability indication and the enable command are represented of single bits of information in the respective signals. In one embodiment in which the signals are in accordance with ITU-T Recommendation T.30, the capability indication and enable command utilize bit number 30 of the Digital Identification Signal (DIS). In one embodiment in which the signals are in accordance with MIL-STD-188-161D, the capability indication and enable command utilize bit number 12 of respective receiver and sender signals.
Abstract:
An image forming device that supports a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) call function, the image forming device including an interface that communicates with external devices, the external devices including a VoIP call recipient's communication device; and a controller that converts voice data received through the interface of the image forming device into data packets, and transmits the data packets to the VoIP call recipient's communication device through the interface of the image forming device.
Abstract:
A method and system for obtaining the capabilities of a facsimile machine. In facsimile transmission systems which utilize a communication medium in which a direct connection does not exist between the transmitting facsimile machine and the receiving facsimile machine, such as the Internet, there is usually not a polling of the capabilities of the receiving facsimile machine by the transmitting facsimile machine during the process of transmitting a communication. There is a communication over the Internet, for example, by way of an Internet electronic mail message, which requests the capabilities of the receiving fax machine. A response e-mail is transmitted so that the capabilities of the receiving facsimile machine are sent to the transmitting facsimile machine. The facsimile machines involved are not necessarily connected directly to the Internet but may be connected through transfer stations. The transfer stations are connected over a network such as the Internet and the electronic mail messages are transmitted between the transfer stations.
Abstract:
This invention has as its object to allow a direct print system to display on a user interface of a digital camera whether or not a printer which can directly communicate with the digital camera has a function of automatically detecting a paper size and the like. To this end, according to this invention, in a print system that includes a digital camera, and a printer which can directly communicate with the digital camera, the printer has transmission means for transmitting information indicating that it has a function of automatically detecting the paper size and type to the digital camera, and the digital camera has a user interface for notifying the user that the printer has that function.
Abstract:
A communication device includes a communication unit that carries out communications via a plurality communication channels and a plurality of communication protocols and a storage unit storing ability management information that registers a plurality of groups of specifying information for specifying another communication device, a communication channel and a communication protocol used by the other communication device, and identification information used in the communication channel and the communication protocol. The communication device also includes a controller for selecting the communication channel, the communication protocol, and the identification information corresponding to the specifying information of a receiving communication device, from registered information within an ability management table, and for carrying out the communication by the communication unit.
Abstract:
An information processing apparatus comprises a first interface that performs wireless communication which is relayed through a base station and a second interface that performs wireless communication which is not relayed through a base station, and the information processing apparatus allows the wireless communication by the second interface to start under a condition that the wireless communication by the first interface has been started so that it is possible to set the same frequency channel used in the two types of wireless communication.
Abstract:
A receiver image processing apparatus capable of easily performing post-processing in line with a print setting. The receiver image processing apparatus includes a printing unit able to print image data on a plurality of types of sheets of different sizes. When an incoming call arrives from a sender image processing apparatus, a determination unit of the apparatus determines whether a setting to perform post-processing on sheets by a post-processing unit has been made by a setting unit. If it is determined that the setting to perform post-processing has been made, a notification unit of the receiver image processing apparatus notifies size information representing a sheet size belonging to a predetermined series, as ability information of the apparatus, to the sender image processing apparatus.
