Abstract:
A lubricating system that realizes enhancing of the capability of lubrication component retention of foam lubricant and limiting of the rate of lubrication component exudation by deformation of foam lubricant to required minimum, and that excels in affinity in initial-stage lubrication, ensuring prolonged service life and low cost, and that excels in productivity; a bearing utilizing the system; a universal joint utilizing the system; and a process for production thereof. The lubricating system is one comprising, provided together in a lubrication subject site, lubricant for initial stage (10) and foam lubricant (9), the foam lubricant (9) having a lubrication component contained in a resin capable of foaming/hardening to thereby render the same porous, wherein the lubricant for initial stage (10) is either a grease of 300 or higher consistency or 0.7 wt.% or greater oil separation degree measured 24 hours later at 70‹C, or a lubricating oil of 50 mm2/sec or higher kinetic viscosity at 40‹C, and wherein in the initial-stage lubrication of the lubricating system, at least the lubricant for initial stage (10) is provided in a slide area of the lubrication subject site. ® KIPO & WIPO 2009

Improved lubricant and surface conditioner forming composition containing oxa acids and their methyl esters corresponding to general formula (I): H3C-(CH2)n-CH=CH-(CH2)m -O-(CH2CH2O)x-CH2-C(=O)-OR where each of m, n and x, which may be the same or different, is a positive integer and R represents H, the counterion for the oxa acid anion, or CH3; and, when dissolved and/or dispersed in water is effective in reducing COF values on substrates that have been contacted with such a lubricant and surface conditioner forming composition and subsequently dried, even when the substrates have been conversion coated and rinsed before any contact with the lubricant and surface conditioner forming composition. Materials according to general formula (I) may be used together with other surfactants, including some constituents of previously known lubricant and surface conditioner forming compositions to provide improvements in COF, waterbreak performance, water drainage and resistance to dry-off of the conditioner. ® KIPO & WIPO 2009

A lubricating oil composition useful for metal rolling essentially comprises water added in the range of from 5 to 89.95 percent by mass; an oxygen-containing compound added in the range of from 10 to 94.95 percent by mass and represented by the formula R O-(R -O)p-R (I) where R and R each independently are hydrogen or hydrocarbon groups of 1-18 carbon atoms, R is an alkylene group of 1-6 carbon atoms, p is an integer of 1-30; and a salt of fatty acid added in the range of from 0.05 to 10 percent by mass and selected from the group consisting of an alkaline metal salt of fatty acid of 6-22 carbon atoms, a salt of fatty acid of 6-22 carbon atoms and an alkanol amine of 1-15 carbon atoms, and a salt of fatty acid of 6-22 carbon atoms and a nitrogen-containing compound of the formula where R is a hydrocarbon group of 1-24 carbon atoms, R is an ethylene or propylene group, q is an integer of 1-30, X is hydrogen, a hydrocarbon group of 1-24 carbon atoms or a group of the formula -(R -O)rH where R is an ethylene or propylene group and r is an integer of 1-30; the sum of the water and the compound of the formula (I) being in the range of from 80 to 99.95 percent by mass based on total composition. The components as defined and their contents as specified are conducive to improved rolling performance and high surface gloss of rolled products.
