Abstract:
The invention relates to a high-temperature lubricant for the heat treatment of metals, said lubricant consisting of a mixture of pulverulent materials. The aim of the invention is to provide a high-temperature lubricant with good free-flowing properties and behaviour for dissolving scale on heated metallic surfaces, said lubricant being applied in a powder form and enabling a good covering of the metallic surface, having good free-flowing properties without much agglutination even after a long storage period under production conditions, and avoiding the use of graphite. To this end, the mixture contains at least the following components: a) a secondary and/or tertiary calcium phosphate compound, b) a fatty acid or a fatty acid salt, c) boric acid, a boric acid salt (borate) and/or a mineral containing a boric acid salt (borate) and d) condensed alkali phosphate. The constituents of the mixture have an average particle size of 150 µm and the lubricant does not contain any added graphite.

Abstract:
A granular solid wax particle comprising a highly paraffinic wax having a low T10 boiling point less than 427 °C and an inorganic powder coating; optionally with a layer of higher boiling wax over the highly paraffinic wax having a low T10 boiling point, and an inorganic powder coating over the layer of higher boiling wax. In separate embodiments, a highly paraffinic wax having a T10 boiling point less than 427 °C or a highly paraffinic wax having a needle penetration greater than 3 mm/10 at 25°C is coated with a powder that adsorbs the wax without being encapsulated by the wax in a hot drop wax test. Also, a process for transporting highly paraffinic wax having a T10 boiling point less than 427 °C as granular solid wax particles. And, a method of making base oil from granular solid wax particles transported from a distant location.
Abstract:
The aim of the invention is to obtain a lubricant containing a graphite and a phyllosilicate for lubricating two heated metal objects, in mutual contact through their surfaces, moving in relation to each other. Said lubricant contains, in relation to the solid material content, at least 5 wt. % of phyllosilicate containing water but free of alkali.
Abstract:
The invention relates to sheet metal or a sheet metal blank provided with a lubricant coating, especially an anti-corrosion oil of the Pre-Lube or Dry Lube variety. The sheet metal or sheet metal blank comprises a layer which is formed by applying a solution containing an organic phosphoric acid ester to the metal surface of the sheet metal. Sheet metal provided with said coating has excellent tribological properties.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a novel emulsified composition comprising (a) major amount of an aqueous phase, (b) a minor amount of an organic phase and (c) a minor but effective amount of at least one emulsifier to emulsify the aqueous and organic phase resulting in a water in oil emulsified lubricants, in particular an emulsified greases. Further, the present invention provides a process for making the emulsified compositions.
Abstract:
A metallic sheet for motor vehicles which has excellent suitability for press forming and chemical treatments; and a process for producing the sheet. The surface-treating agent consists mainly of (A) a phosphate of one or more di- or trivalent metals selected among zinc, iron, manganese, nickel, cobalt, calcium, magnesium, and aluminum, the average particle diameter of the phosphate being 3 mu m or smaller, (B) a dispersant for the ingredient (A), and water. It is applied to a surface of a metallic sheet and then dried. Examples of the dispersant (B) include orthophosphoric acid, polyphosphoric acids, and organic phosphonic acid compounds. Also usable are polymers formed from a monomer represented by the following formula (1). Furthermore, monosaccharides, polysaccharides, and polymers or derivatives of vinyl acetate are usable. It is preferred to apply the surface-treating agent to the surface of a metallic sheet so as to form a film in an amount of 0.05 to 3 g/m on a dry basis.
