In a TDMA cellular telephone system, an error concealment method provides parameter interpolation based on soft quality measures that will enhance the speech quality under bad channel conditions compared to prior methods of repeating previous voice data frames. Specifically, the soft technique of the present invention uses a weighted combination of previous and present frame parameters, where the weighting reflects the probability of error. The present invention will improve the masking of errors compared to hard actions based on a binary detection, especially when the binary detection fails or when the received frame is declared as being 'good'. The method can also utilize parameter based soft information without increasing the bitrate.

The invention provides an improved method and apparatus for identifying a bad GSM speech frame. Both the estimated signal-to-noise ratio (ESNR) of the received signal and the pseudo bit error rate (PBER) of a recoded speech signal are used to determine whether or not a speech frame is bad.

An error detector circuit (300), and an associated method, is disclosed for a discrete receiver, the error detector circuit (300) indicates bad frames of binary information signals which contain distorted bits of data in numbers so great as to prevent a convolutional decoder (312) from generating, accurately, a decoded signal. When bit errors are detected in numbers beyond a first preselected value of signal quality of a received signal combined with the detected number of bits errors forming a signal beyond a second preselected value, a bad frame is detected.

Procédé et dispositif d'estimation de la qualité utiles lors de la détection d'une séquence d'informations telle qu'une séquence vocale transmise dans un système de radiocommunications fonctionnant en accès multiple à répartition dans le temps (AMRT), ce procédé pouvant également s'appliquer à des systèmes radio répartis en fréquence. Dans ce procédé on utilise les informations temporaires disponibles dans le récepteur radio (RM, DM, DI, KD) qui sont destinées à détecter la séquence vocale et à traiter ces informations de signaux suivant les principes s'appliquant aux réseaux neuronaux connus. Avant l'utilisation, le réseau neuronal (RN) est aligné sur le système de radiocommunications concerné. Cette invention permet de fournir aux unités de correction d'erreurs (TD) du récepteur radio de meilleures informations concernant d'éventuelles erreurs dans la séquence vocale.

A base station apparatus capable of communicating with a user equipment terminal using a downlink shared channel is disclosed. The base station apparatus includes a radio resource allocation unit allocating radio resource blocks to the shared channel after allocating the radio resource blocks to at least one of a synchronization signal, a common control channel, a broadcast channel, a paging channel, an MBMS channel, and a random access response channel.
