Abstract:
A service gateway includes a fast path module for processing data packets without using packet buffers and a normal path module for processing data packets using packet buffers. The fast path module receives a service request data packet from a client side session, determines that the service request data packet cannot be processed by the fast path module, and in response, sends the service request data packet to the normal path module. After receiving the service request data packet, the normal path module retrieves a first proxy session record created by the fast path module, where the first proxy session record is associated with a client session record for the client side session, creates a second proxy session record based on the service request data packet and the client session record, and processes the service request data packet according to the second proxy session record.
Abstract:
A service gateway processes a service request received from a host by: relaying the service request from the service gateway to a server over a service session between the service gateway and the server; determining a service request time for the service session; receiving by the service gateway a service response from the server; determining by the service gateway a service response time; calculating by the service gateway a service processing time for the service request from the service request time and the service response time; comparing the service processing time with an expected service processing time; and updating a server busy indicator for the server in response to the comparing. If the service processing time exceeds the expected service processing time, the server busy indicator is updated to indicate that the server is busy. Otherwise, the server busy indicator is updated to indicate that the server is not busy.

Abstract:
A method, system, and computer program product for balancing servers based on server load status, include: receiving from a server a service response to a service request, the service response including a result from a processing of the service request and a server status indicating a computing load status of the server; obtaining the server status from the service response; receiving a next service request from a host, the next service request comprising a Uniform Resource Locator (URL); determining that the server is configured to process the URL; determining whether the server status indicates that the server is available to process the next service request; and in response to determining that the server status indicates that the server is available to process the next service request, sending the next service request to the server.
Abstract:
A system and method for resolving an identity includes a security console , which displays security information regarding a secure network. The security information includes at least a first identity used to access the secure network. An operator selects the first identity, and the security console sends it to a resolver. The resolver connects with an identity server to find an access session record with an identity matching the first identity. A second identity is extracted from this record, and the resolver returns a result that includes the second identity. The security console displays the second identity. The first identity can be a user identity of a user, where the second identity is corresponding host identity, or vise versa. In this manner, an efficient interface to security information is provided to an operator, where the operator may resolve a user/host identity to a host/user identity interactively.
Abstract:
Provided are methods and systems for load balancing client requests between sites associated with a domain name. A method comprises determining a first active response delay time between a local Domain Name System (DNS) server and a first site. The method further comprises determining a first application response delay time between the first site and one or more first servers associated with the first site. According to the method, the first active response delay time and the first application response delay time are compounded to produce a first compounded response delay time. The method further comprises determining a second active response delay time and a second application response delay for a second site to produce a second compounded response delay time. The first compounded response delay time and the second compounded response delay time are compared to perform load balancing between the first site and the second site.
Abstract:
Application Delivery Controller (ADC), Global Server Load Balancer (GSLB), and methods for their operation in data networks are disclosed. The methods for load balancing may include receiving a query concerning a host name from a client, determining that there are two or more host servers associated with the host name, measuring various metrics associated with each of the two or more host servers and a local Doman Name Server (DNS), and based at least in part on the measurement, selecting a host server among the two or more host servers. The load balancing may also be based on a measured round trip time.
Abstract:
Provided are methods and systems for load distribution in a data network. A method for load distribution in the data network may comprise retrieving network data associated with the data network and service node data associated with one or more service nodes. The method may further comprise analyzing the retrieved network data and service node data. Based on the analysis, a service policy may be generated. Upon receiving one or more service requests, the one or more service requests may be distributed among the service nodes according to the service policy.
Abstract:
A method to generate name records by a service gateway includes: receiving a name service request including a name from a host; creating a name service request using the name; sending the name service request to a name service server; receiving a response from the name service server, the response including a service server name record with one or more service server name entries corresponding to the name; generating and storing service gateway name records using the name and the name entries; and sending a selected service gateway name record to the host as a response to the name service request. When a subsequent name service request including the name is received, the service gateway compares the name against the stored service gateway name records, and in response to finding a match, sending the given service gateway name record as a response to the subsequent name service request.
Abstract:
The processing of data packets sent over a communication session between a host and a server by a service gateway, includes: processing a data packet using a current hybrid-stateful or hybrid-stateless, processing method; checking whether a hybrid-stateless, or hybrid-stateful, condition is satisfied; when the condition is satisfied, changing from a hybrid-stateful to a hybrid-stateless processing method, or vice versa, for a subsequently received data packet; and otherwise, continue processing the subsequently received data packet using the current hybrid processing method.
