Abstract:
A voltage measuring device includes an input configured to be coupled to a secondary of an inductive coupling of a DC to DC voltage converter. A switch coupled to the input forms a discharge path parallel to a sampling capacitor dependent on the voltage at the input equaling or exceeding a first voltage threshold and independent of an output voltage at the output of the device. The sampling capacitor is coupled to the output. A rectifier in series with the sampling capacitor is biased to conduct upon the input voltage, minus the output voltage, equaling or exceeding a second voltage.
Abstract:
A conveyor system includes a conveyor table having a platform surface with opposed platform edges that form a flow gap therebetween and a plurality of conveyor mechanisms extending above the platform surface. At least one guide pin assembly is receivable in the flow gap. The guide pin assembly includes a guide pin having at least a portion thereof above the platform surface. A carrier for a workpiece includes a base, a column extending vertically from the base, and a lifting assembly carried by the column that is movable with respect to the column and adapted to carry a workpiece. The carrier may be detachably secured to the guide pin assembly so as to allow controlled movement of the workpiece along the platform surface.
Abstract:
A cross-direction feedback controller, profiler system and actuator setpoint controller are provided in communication with a plurality of actuators in a machine of a web-forming process, and with a local region detector that determines an actual profile response of a product of the web-forming process in response to consecutively bumping each of the actuators. A relationship between generated profile response data and an actuator setpoint change in the generated profile response data is represent by a profile-to-actuator general interaction matrix, which is expanded into linear equations that describe impacts of bumped actuators on different profile points of generated profile response data. The linear equations are rearranged into a bump-magnitude matrix as a function of a desired response model vector. A least-square solution is found for the bump-magnitude matrix, convolved with a window function and then optimized to minimize error between an actual and a modeled profile response.
Abstract:
A system and method for delivering targeted information to a user is provided. The user initiates a request for information by capturing or scanning a bar code associated with an object. The bar code is decoded and the decoded information is presented to the user. The decoded information and GPS coordinates of the user's scanning device is used to directly route the user to detailed information about the object that was scanned or the appropriate service department for servicing the object. The detailed information about the object includes but is not limited to product and system specifications, technical manuals and CAD drawings. A history of product scans is stored on the user's device and available for upload to the cloud. A portal is provided for accessing product scans and installed base information stored on the cloud.
Abstract:
DC-DC converter systems are disclosed. DC-DC converter systems may include an input, an output, a resonant switched-capacitor DC-DC converter, and a second DC-DC converter. The resonant switched-capacitor DC-DC converter may include a first input side and a first output side. The second DC-DC converter may include a second input side and a second output side. The first input side may be connected to the input, the second input side may be connected to an input voltage, and the first and second output sides may be connected in series to the output. In some examples, the second DC-DC converter may be a buck-boost DC-DC converter.
Abstract:
A control system for a centrifuge that allows the centrifuge to continue to run when there is a short duration failure or outage of the AC power source. The control system allows the centrifuge to be brought to a stop in a normal shutdown mode where there are longer duration failures or outages of the AC power source. This allows power to be maintained to the pump that lubricates the centrifuge bearings so that the bearings are lubricated during the coast down of the centrifuge and the differential speed of the centrifuge to be controlled during coast down allowing the centrifuge bowl to be cleared of solids so that the centrifuge can be immediately started up at lower vibration levels once power is restored.
Abstract:
A preferred process for evaluating the performance of a process control system comprises generating a first set of data comprising a plurality of measurements of a first parameter controlled by the process control system and generating a second set of data comprising a plurality of measurements of a second parameter controlled by the process control system. A preferred process also comprises calculating a first statistical index from the first set of data using a statistical process control method, calculating a second statistical index from the second set of data using the statistical process control method, and combining the first and second statistical indices to produce a performance index representative of the performance of the process control system at controlling the first and second parameters.
Abstract:
Non-linear inductor(s) are used to reduce the percent total harmonic distortion of the harmonics in the line currents in the input side rectifier system of an ac drive system. Several constructions for the non-linear inductor(s) are described. The non-linear inductor(s) may be constructed from E and I laminations. The gap depends on the construction of the middle leg of the E laminations and may have a step with a constant spacing or a variable spacing which depends on the stacking of the laminations. Alternatively the non-linear inductor(s) may be constructed from a toriodal core that either has a step gap or a variable type gap.
Abstract:
There is described a method and apparatus for controlling the combustion by-product formation rate in at least one burner of a fossil fuel fired power plant. The burner has an associated flame scanner which is focused on a small area of the burner flame to obtain an image signal of the flame. A flame signal that represents properties of temporal combustion in the visible light spectrum of the burner is generated from the image signal. Combustion turbulence at the burner is analyzed from the flame signal by a dynamic invariant that has a relationship to the combustion by-product values and different combustion by-product levels at the burner and the combustion turbulence is correlated to the combustion by-product formation rate at the burner. The method and apparatus can also be used to correlated the combustion turbulence at a multiplicity of burners to the associated combustion by-product formation rate.
Abstract:
There is described a method and apparatus for applying steam from a steam source to a moving web to thereby improve the smoothness and gloss of the web. A housing has at least one cooling chamber upstream and at least one steam chamber downstream. The cooling air in the cooling chamber is used to cool the web before steam is applied to the web from the steam chamber. This allows a sufficient volume of steam to be delivered to the web to thereby raise its moisture content to a desired level to thus achieve optimized calendering of the web.
