Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a programming method with an electronic standing order template regarding a medical pump to improve safety of a patient and entire efficiency.SOLUTION: The programming method includes: a step of selecting a therapy from a memory; a step of selecting a therapeutic agent for delivery after selection of the therapy; and a step of generating a standing order including data for controlling operation of the medical pump. Also, as an aspect, the programming method is a computer-readable medium in a computer device, and includes data base programmed to include the plurality of standing orders.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a needle guard mechanism for protecting a user and another person from the sharpened tip of a needle after drawn out of a patient.SOLUTION: In this needle guard clip, the clip is formed of a rigid member and the member is equipped with a first wall (16) and a second wall (20). The member is transferred from a first state to a second state by inclining the first and second walls and further equipped with a pair of struts (24 and 26), which connect the first and second walls and have openings. The member is furthermore equipped with a spring member (14) and the spring member has the part acting on the first wall and passing through the opening to extend. By this constitution, the spring member energizes the rigid member toward the second state wherein the first and second walls are inclined.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide for reliable PID feedback control in reliance on temperature measurements in a respiratory system without requiring measurements of flow rate. SOLUTION: A heater system (16) is provided for a respiratory system (10) having a PID feedback control (100) in which the coefficients are adjusted, such as in a warm-up process, to correspond to an estimated flow rate of gas through a chamber (20) of heated water (27) based on the difference between heat input and heat output in relation to a temperature set point without the need to directly monitor flow rate or humidity level. A steady-state adjustment of the coefficients based on the behavior of the measured temperature in relation to the set point is also disclosed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermistor-based temperature probe for use in a respiratory system, whose thermistor is environmentally protected, which reduces migration of moisture into the thermistor, and which does not a harmful influence on the temperature response of the thermistor. SOLUTION: A temperature probe (42), for example, of a respiratory system (10) which supplies breathable gases to a patient includes a housing (62) having a cavity (66) sized to fittingly receive a substantially cylindrical container (68) therein. The container (68) includes a thermistor (70) fixed therein. The container is adapted to provide a barrier to moisture. The probe provides a quick temperature response, and minimizes migration of moisture to the thermistor regardless of the high temperature and high level of heat to which the probe is subjected during normal operation of the respiratory system (10). PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heated breathing circuit detection system which verifies the proper set up and connection of a breathing circuit to a heater unit of a humidification system. SOLUTION: The detection system automatically detects that the breathing circuit (21) is connected to the heater unit (18), and the nature of the heating circuit(s) (34, 36) thereof. In one embodiment, the resistance of the heating circuit(s) (34, 36) is determined and compared to an expected resistance or range of acceptable resistances to determine if the heater circuit(s) is properly or actually attached and properly operating. The humidification system also has the ability to determine the delivery mode of the breathing circuit, i.e., whether a single inspiratory limb (22), or both inspiratory and expiratory limbs (22, 24), is connected to the heater unit (18). PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an additive type needle protecting device for preventing a needle, extended from a liquid medicine bottle and contaminated, from being exposed to the environment. SOLUTION: The needle protecting device 2 for a liquid medicine bottle 16 has a collar 4 from the base of which a few finger grippers 6 are extended. The collar 4 is placed around a hub 10 of the liquid medicine bottle 16, and pushed till the gripper fingers 6 are snap-engaged with the bottom surface of the needle hub 10, so that the collar 4 is fixed to the needle hub 10 on the liquid medicine bottle 16. A housing 6 flexibly extending from the collar 4 is turned to such a position as to align with the liquid medicine bottle 16 in the lengthwise axial direction to surround the needle 12, so that the needle 12 is prevented from being exposed to the environment. A hook 18 combined inside the housing 6 securely prevents relative move of the needle 12 and the housing 6 from each other as the housing 6 is turned to the aligning position till the hook 18 is snap-engaged with the needle 12 to shut in the needle. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a design of an improved blunt cannula whose insertion resistance is advantageously decreased, having a distal portion to form a unique shape so as not to basically require a sharp end or a flat end. SOLUTION: A blunt cannula (10) includes a distal portion (12) and a proximal portion (14). The distal portion (14) has a non-uniform taper defined by a plurality, such as four, of differently tapered segments (22, 24, 26, 28). The proximal portion (12) may additionally or alternatively have a non-circular, such as oval, cross-section. At least the major diameter (DMAJ) of the proximal portion (12) may taper toward the distal portion (14). COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressurization respiratory gas humidifier adapter with a pressure relief valve having an audible signal generator at a small flow respiratory gas feed system as incorporated in the system. SOLUTION: The adaptor is for protecting the pressure relief valve and the audible signal generator from accidental damage during use of a humidifier system, especially during connection of the adaptor 30 to a respiratory gas supply system, and when the adaptor is connected to a humidifier container before the adaptor is coupled to the gas feed system. The pressure relief valve and the audible signal generator are incorporated in the humidifier adaptor to form a gas-tight seal to a standard type medical humidifier container. The pressure relief valve alleviates pressure in a humidifier gas system for adjustment when trouble occurs in a gas passage to a patient, while generating audio sound generated at a prescribed pressure threshold level through a desired respiratory gas flow range.
