Abstract: Various carton sealing tapes are disclosed that have a plurality of security features, at least two of which include nanomarker particles having identification indicia visible under about 100 to about 400 times magnification and taggants visible upon exposure to a pre-selected wavelength outside the visible spectrum included in the same or different layers of the tape structure depending upon the selection of the backing material for the substrate of the tape. The carton sealing tapes are also printable for inclusion of a consecutive sequence of coded identification information in the form of a barcode or a 2D code.

Abstract: A tape applicator including a main frame, and a knife arm assembly. The knife arm assembly may include a magnet mounted in a stationary position relative to the main frame, and a knife arm pivotally mounted to the main frame. A blade may be mounted to the knife arm. A guard may be rotationally connected to the knife arm and configured to rotate between a closed position covering the blade and an open position exposing the blade. A spring may bias the guard toward the closed position. A catch may be associated with the guard comprising ferromagnetic material. The catch may be attracted to the magnet to open the guard as the knife arm swings to a cutting position.

Abstract: Protective coverings are disclosed that have a scrim made up of warp and weft members that define a plurality of interstices coated on only a first major surface thereof by a multi-layer coating with a first layer of the multi-layer coating juxtaposed to the first major surface, and penetrating into the interstices of the scrim to co-define, with the warp and weft members, an opposing second major surface of the scrim. The first layer of the multi-layer coating has a melting point below 100° C. and comprises a copolymer of ethylene, and provides the co-defined opposing second major surface of the scrim with a coefficient of friction of at least 0.5 when tested with dry leather and at least 0.7 when tested with dry rubber.

Abstract: An air pillow machine system may include an air pillow machine including a primary base plate having mounted thereto a feeding mechanism, an inflating mechanism, and a sealing mechanism. The primary base plate of the air pillow machine may be removably slidingly received within a frame. The frame may be one of mounted at least partially within a housing and integral with the housing. A portion of each of the feeding mechanism, inflating mechanism, and sealing mechanism that engage an uninflated pillow-precursor may protrude away from the primary base plate and away from the frame.

Abstract: An inflatable packaging system includes an inflatable cushioning supply and a conveyance module. The conveyance module includes a sliding conveyor, a fixed conveyor, a belt-drive, and an encoder. The sliding conveyor is adjustable, relative to the fixed conveyor, such that a space between the sliding conveyor and the fixed conveyor is adjustable. The belt-drive displaces the inflatable cushioning supply through the space between the sliding conveyor and the fixed conveyor. The encoder is coupled to the belt-drive.

Abstract: A cartoning machine including a carton supply station (e.g., a rotary carton supply station, a linear carton supply station, a non-linear carton supply station, or the like) and a handling station operatively coupled to the carton supply station. The carton supply station provides, on a selective basis, cartons, such as carton blanks, pre-formed cartons, or the like. The carton supply station of the cartoning machine provides for movement of magazines with respect to a robot in the handling station that may have a distal end secured in a stationary and fixed location. As such, different magazines with dissimilar cartons may be moved to a picking location adjacent the robot, as dissimilar cartons are required. Further, the cartons within the magazines may be moved to a pre-determined pick-up location such that the robot is repeatably picking a carton from the pre-determine pick-up location.

Abstract: Methods and structures are provided for a dunnage system to facilitate efficient coupling together of supply units of pre-configured sheet stock material, such as, for example, separate units of fanfold stacks of pre-configured sheet stock material, in a manner of continuous supply with a continuous pocket extending longitudinally between the separate supply units, so that they can interact with an expander of the dunnage system without disruption as one supply unit is depleted and a next supply unit is fed through the dunnage system. Abstract: A void fill system may be used to scan a carton before, during, or after pre-fill material is dispensed into the carton, one or more products are packaged into the carton, and/or when void fill material is dispensed to the carton having the one or more products. The void fill system may include one or more sensors, which may be used identify the carton and/or identify the carton volume. The one or more sensors may also be used to identify the current carton volume (e.g., of the products, fill material, etc.). The information captured by the void fill system may be used to determine a proposed packaging recipe (e.g., suggest a carton, void fill, product configuration, etc.) based on supplier or customer preferences, product information, shipping information, or the like, to provide a notification with recommendations regarding the packaging process, and/or to automatically dispense void fill material.
