    Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for allocating transmission bandwidths in a GE-PON(Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Network) is provided to offer a scheduling method to allocate bandwidths to ONUs(Optical Network Units) so as to transmit data to an OLT(Optical Line Transmission), in a point to multi-point structured GE-PON system which is composed of one OLT and a plurality of ONUs connected to the OLT through an ODN(Optical Distribution Network). CONSTITUTION: Cycle 1 starts at T2. BW request signals, transmitted from ONUs(22i-22l), arrive at an OLT(20). The scheduler of cycle 1 is driven at T3 and works up to T4. The scheduler executes a scheduling procedure only for BW request signals(403,405,407) arriving at the OLT(20) from T0 to T3. A scheduling result between T3 and T4 is allocated to a band of cycle 2. If the scheduling procedure ends at T4, the OLT(20) combines the scheduling result to a grant signal(411) and transmits it to each ONU. Each ONU transmits the data of a buffer to the OLT(20) as much as each allocated time at each allocated hour according to the scheduling result contained in the received grant signal(411).
