Abstract: PURPOSE: A digital image processing apparatus and a control method thereof are provided to create a composite image by a combination of a self shot image and a selected background image. CONSTITUTION: An individual image detector(171) discriminates an individual image and a background image from a first image and a second image. The individual image detector extracts the individual image from the first and second images. An image composition unit(173) synthesizes the individual image on the background image. A composite video signal output unit(175) outputs the video signal of the composite image. The composite video signal output unit displays the composite image on a first display unit and a second display unit.
