Abstract: PURPOSE: A printer and a method for calibrating a color registration error are provided to improve the preciseness of measuring a color registration error from test patterns by optical injection device and to calibrate the measured color registration error while not making its structure complex. CONSTITUTION: A power stoppage latent image corresponding to test patterns by color set up for detecting a color registration error is formed on a photosensitive medium by sequentially exposing an optical injection device under the sun and then is developed as a development substance of a single color by a selected developer. Then, a position between the test patterns formed with the development substance of one color is detected, and the amount of errors to the color registration is output from the position data. Next, it is judged whether there is the color registration error from the output amount of the error, and if there is the color registration error, correction data is obtained to fit the color registration.
