Abstract:
Abstract:
PURPOSE: A GE-PON(Gigabit Ethernet-Passive Optical Network) having a dual-link structure and a method for setting double links are provided to minimize a data loss according to generation of a link error by setting an error determining time with respect to an active link as a minimum 10msec. CONSTITUTION: An OLT(Optical Line Terminal)(100) sets an active link and a standby link with respect to one device corresponding to a registration request message received through an optical cable. When ONUs(Optical Network Units)(220,240,260), each of which is dually connected with the OLT(100) through the optical cable, receive an active registration message from the OLT(100) in response to the registration request message, they forms an active link with the OLT(100) through the optical cable. When the ONUs(220,240,260) receive a standby message from the OLT(100), they form a standby link with the OLT(100) through the optical cable.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: A method for allocating bandwidths for voice services in a GE-PON(Gigabit Ethernet-Passive Optical Network) is provided to offer a voice service within a preset transmission latency time and to efficiently use an allocated bandwidth. CONSTITUTION: An OLT(Optical Line Termination) transmits a transfer opportunity grant frame to each ONU(Optical Network Unit), synchronized with the OLT(S110). Receiving the transfer opportunity grant frame, each ONU transmits a response frame to the OLT. If response frames are received(S120), the OLT judges whether the received response frames are ONU registration requests(S130). In case that it is judged that the received response frames are ONU registration requests, the OLT checks the number of the ONUs that transmitted the response frames(S150). After checking the number of the ONUs, the OLT divides a time slot into a plurality of minislots having an identical bandwidth. Then the OLT segments a part of the bandwidth of the divided minislots according to the number of the ONUs and allocates the fixed voice transmission bandwidth to each of the ONUs(S160).
Abstract:
A GE-PON (Gigabit Ethernet-Passive Optical Network) system is provided that configures upstream and downstream frames on the basis of a variable-length Ethernet frame. The GE-PON system employs TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) for upstream packet transmission in a tree structure for a point-to-multipoint connection. A structure of a frame format is also provided that is capable of effectively accommodating Gigabit Ethernet traffic in the GE-PON system and a method is provided for implementing various functions such as initial ONU registration, late ONU registration, ranging, and dynamic bandwidth allocation in the GE-PON system.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: An operation implementing method in a GE-PON(Giga-bit Ethernet-Passive Optical Network) system and its Ethernet frame structure are provided to implement a frame format structure for effectively receive a giga-bit Ethernet traffic and a procedure for initial and periodical ONU(Optical Network Unit) registration, ranging and dynamic allocation of band. CONSTITUTION: An OLT(Optical Line Termination) periodically transmits synchronous signal to plural ONUs(22i,22j). The ONUs(22i,22j) are synchronized with the OLT(20). ONUs(22i,22j) waits for a grant frame coming down at first of every period. ONUs(22i,22j) check whether a value of a grant type field of the grant frame is set to an initial registration. If so, the ONUs(22i,22j) recognize ONU upstream data transmission state point and transmission time length. In order to avoid, the ONUs(22i,22j) transmit a registration request frame as an initial registration request frame to the OLT(20). The OLT(20) calculates an RTT(Round Trip Time) by using a difference between an initial registration request frame upstream transmission time estimate arrival time and an actual arrival time and a random delay value. The OLT(20) registers the ONUs(22i,22j) and assigns a new ONU ID to the ONUs(22i,22j). The OLT(20) transmits a registration response frame including the newly assigned ONU ID and the round trip type RTT to a corresponding ONU.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: A gigabit Ethernet passive optical network system and a media access control method thereof are provided to replace expensive ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) equipment by a gigabit Ethernet MAC(Media Access Control) controller. CONSTITUTION: An OLT(Optical Line Termination) transmits a downstream window including a control frame and Ethernet frames including position and size information of slots to a plurality of ONU(Optical Network Unit)s to an ODN(Optical Distribution Network). The OLT analyzes contents of RAU(Request Access Unit)s of an upstream window received through the ODN for permitting a time slot and slot size corresponding to each ONU. The plurality of ONUs are connected to the ODN and assigned with the time slot position and the slot size in response to the receiving of the ONUs included in the control frame of the downstream window. The plurality of ONUs transmit and receive RAU frames and Ethernet frames having queue information to and from the assigned slot.
