Abstract: A display apparatus and method for providing a PIP(Picture In Picture) function, and an information processing apparatus and method for providing a PIP(Picture In Picture) function are provided to automatically convert a PIP region of a display apparatus to a semitransparent image to efficiently display PIP information and a background image. A display apparatus(200) providing a PIP function includes a communication unit(240) and a controller(220). The communication unit transmits PIP information to an information processing apparatus and receives transparency information which is set according to whether a pointing device is located in a PIP region from the information processing apparatus. The controller receives the transparency information from the communication unit and converts the PIP region to a semi-transparent or opaque image according to whether the transparency information is enabled or disabled.
