Disclosed is a method for encoding and decoding the entropy of a video. The method for decoding the entropy of the video includes the steps of: determining a transform coefficient used for an inversion transform of an encoding unit; determining a context model for the arithmetic decoding of a transform unit effective coefficient flag to show whether the transform coefficient that is not 0 is in the transform unit based on the transform depth of the transform unit; and arithmetically decoding the transform unit effective coefficient flag based on the determined context model.

The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for encoding and decoding an image, and more specifically, to a method and apparatus for encoding and decoding an image by converting the image of a pixel domain to coefficients of a frequency domain. Disclosed are the method and apparatus for encoding the image by converting multiple prediction units as a single unit into the frequency domain and the method and apparatus for decoding the image data encoded by the method of encoding.

PURPOSE: A method and device for determining the reference picture set (RPS) of an image are provided to determine an RPS which is a set of reference images used for predictively decoding the current image. CONSTITUTION: An RPS determining part (101) decides whether to determine an RPS based on a delta RPS in order to determine an RPS which is a set of reference images used for predictively decoding the current image that is to be decoded. A reference RPS is one of predefined RPSs. The reference RPS is referred to in determining the RPS. The delta RPS is a difference value between the picture order count (POC) value of a reference image included in the reference RPS and the POC value of a reference image included in the RPS. PURPOSE: A coding method of an image, a device thereof, a decoding method thereof, and a device thereof are provided to filter surrounding pixels of a current block, and to perform intra prediction for the current block by using the filtered surrounding pixels, thereby improving compression efficiency of the image. CONSTITUTION: A decoding device extracts intra prediction mode information, which is applied to a current decoding unit, from a bitstream(2020). The decoding device determines corresponding surrounding pixels among surrounding pixels, which are adjacent to the current decoding unit, and filtered surrounding pixels based on a size of the current decoding unit and the intra prediction mode(2030). The maximum encoding unit splitting part splits a current picture based on the maximum encoding unit which is the maximum encoding unit for the current picture. The encoding degree determination part determines an encoding degree by selecting the degree which has minimum encoding errors. The output part outputs the information on the encoding mode of each degree in bit stream format. The reception part receives and parses a bit stream for the encoded video.
