    Abstract: A method for transmitting traffic indication map which is capable of reducing power consumption of a terminal by appropriately distributing a downlink traffic. The method includes: a step of generating a DTIM beacon having a segmentation information element; and a step of dividing TIM information of a TIM page which is subject to transmit into segments with variable sizes and transmitting the segments using the DTIM beacon and beacons within a DTIM period which corresponds to the DTIM beacon. Therefore, terminals which operate with a PS mode can reduce power consumption which is required to receive downlink frames stored in a buffer of an access point by appropriately distributing the downlink traffic stored in the buffer within a predetermined range. Also, one beacon frame can transmit only one TIM segment at a time, so that the size of the beacon frame can be controlled properly.
