Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus for recording partial encryption of a broadcasting program and a method thereof are provided to use an encryption standard and an encryption module which are used in a previous program. CONSTITUTION: A packet input unit(410) receives packets of a recording target broadcasting program. An encryption selection unit(440) outputs an encryption target packet to a first route. The encryption selection unit outputs a non-encryption target packet to a second route. An encryption processing unit(420) ciphers the encryption target packet in a predetermined encryption method. A storage unit(430) stores the outputted packet of the encryption processing unit and the non-encryption target packet.
