PURPOSE: A symbol timing estimation apparatus according to carrier frequency variation range and a method thereof are provided to estimate symbol timing using an output signal of a matching filter when a carrier frequency variation is small and to estimate it using an input signal of the matching filter when the carrier frequency variation is large. CONSTITUTION: According to the symbol timing estimation apparatus, a filtering unit(100) filters a sampling signal. An information generation unit(210) generates a control signal to determine whether to use an output signal of a signal selection unit(200) as the sampling signal or as a filtering signal from the filtering unit, according to the variation range of a received carrier frequency. The signal selection unit outputs one of the sampling signal and the filtering signal selectively, according to the control signal. And a symbol timing estimation unit(110) estimates the symbol timing of the signal selected by the signal selection unit.

A method for optimizing phase factors in partial transmit sequence orthogonal frequency division multiplexing system. The method includes initializing sub-block signals by applying an initial phase factor to the sub-block signals in all sub-blocks; setting a reference peak value with a peak value of a signal formed by combining the sub-block signals; selecting a phase value that minimizes the peak value of an output signal as the phase factor of each sub-block by applying a next phase value to each sub-block signal as the phase factor, and repeating this with respect to the remaining available phase values.

PURPOSE: A satellite communication transmission data processor and a control method therefor are provided to convert a user traffic, control/management information, signaling information, and resource assignment information composed in an Ethernet frame into a packet suitable for satellite environment, and offer a wideband satellite multimedia service. CONSTITUTION: A PCI(Programmable Communication Interface)(210) converts a bus signal of a CPU board(100) into a local data/address bus signal of a PMC(PCI Mezzanine Card) board. A CAM(220) stores an IP(Internet Protocol) address and a MAC(Media Access Control) address. A FIFO(230) temporarily stores traffic or signaling data outputted from the CPU board(100), and outputs the stored traffic or signaling data by an output byte clock. A PCG(Programmable Clock Generator)(240) generates a reference clock used in a transmission data processor and a timing signal provided to the outside. An FPGA(Field Programmable Gateway Array)(250) controls the CAM(220), the FIFO(230), the PCG(240), and the PCI(210).

PURPOSE: A system for estimating a call request rate in wireless communication environment and a method therefor are provided to classify previously known data and estimate the call request rate by a regression analysis method selected by a valid expression variable. CONSTITUTION: A traffic parameter observing module(10) sets a set having adjacent nodes in an open queuing network, and collects real-time measurement observing values for observing the number of busy objects in each node and the number of existence objects in a corresponding region. A regression analysis module(20) performs a regression analysis by the observing values collected in the traffic parameter observing module(10), supposes a call request rate estimation model, and estimates an internal generation and external inflow call request rate. A resource assignment management module(30) decides whether assigning resources according to the internal generation and external inflow call request rate estimated in the regression analysis module(20), and decides the assignment quantity of the resources.

PURPOSE: A satellite multimedia service system and a satellite multimedia service method are provided to offer multimedia data through a satellite without a system which assigns IP(Internet Protocol) addresses to subscribers. CONSTITUTION: A multimedia server(14) provides multimedia data as a packet. A central station control unit(12) generates subscriber management information, in which a private IP address of a subscriber terminal station(20) and a public IP address of an ISP(Internet Service Provider)(70) are matched, on the basis of a connection request message of the subscriber terminal station(20), which is provided from the ISP(70). A satellite gateway(11) processes a provided data packet on the basis of subscriber management information, and transmits the processed data packet to a satellite(30). A central station gateway(13) provides the data packet provided from the multimedia server(14), to the satellite gateway(11). The satellite gateway(11) changes a destination address of the data packet to the private IP address of the subscriber terminal station(20) according to subscriber management information, transmits the data packet to the satellite(30), so that the subscriber terminal station(20) receives the data packet.

The present invention utilizes an even harmonic mixer for canceling a local oscillator (LO) leakage signal. The apparatus for canceling the LO leakage signal includes an in-phase divider, an intermediate frequency (IF) phase divider, an even harmonic mixers, an RF signal phase combiner and a band pass filter (BPF). The in-phase divider divides an LO signal into two in-phase LO signals, wherein the LO signal is inputted from an exterior LO. The IF phase divider divides an IF signal into two out-of-phase IF signals of which a phase difference is 90°, wherein the IF signal is inputted from an exterior means. The even harmonic mixer outputs two out-of phase RF signals of which the phase difference is 90°, after even-harmonic mixing of two in-phase LO signals divided by the in-phase divider and two out-of-phase IF signals divided by the IF phase divider. The RF signal phase combiner plays a role in canceling an image signal in the RF signal by combining two out-of-phase RF signals outputted from the even harmonic mixer. The BPF is used for canceling a residual component of the leakage signal in the RF signal outputted from the RF signal phase combiner.

PURPOSE: A satellite ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) interface device for transmitting Internet and video data to a satellite network and a method therefor are provided to multiplex ATM data, the Internet data, and the video data of a terrestrial network, which have inter-different traffic characteristics, and transmit the multiplexed data to a satellite. CONSTITUTION: A line interface unit(100) synchronizes a received frame or packet, and transmits a generated corresponding frame or packet to an ATM network, an Internet network, and a transmission network. A cell/frame processing unit(200) receives the frame or packet transmitted from the line interface unit(100), and generates an ATM cell or processes a valid cell and generates a new frame. A FIFO processing unit(300) receives and stores the ATM cell generated from the cell/frame processing unit(200), and grasps states of one or more FIFOs. A multiplexing/demultiplexing process unit(400) receives state grasp result values of the FIFOs from the FIFO processing unit(300), multiplexes the ATM cells according to the characteristic of a traffic, and transmits the multiplexed ATM cell. The multiplexing/demultiplexing process unit(400) demultiplexes a cell received from the outside, and transmits the demultiplexed cells to the FIFO processing unit(300).

PURPOSE: A receiver system estimating symbol timing with a forward structure and a timing estimation method thereof are provided which increase the quality of the whole communication system by using only two samples per one period and estimating accurate symbol timing. CONSTITUTION: According to the receiver system estimating timing in a symbol unit by receiving a RF transmission signal, a matching filter(4) receives a baseband signal and separates it into a real part and an imaginary part. A timing estimation part(5) receives a signal being output from the matching filter, and then estimates symbol timing using every kinds of variables. A memory device(6) stores values of variables required in the operation of the timing estimation part, and outputs them according to the request of the timing estimation part. And an interpolator(8) interpolates symbol leading timing of the baseband signal by receiving the timing estimation value being output from the timing estimation part.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: A frame structure for unicasting and multicasting transmission and frame efficiency of a satellite time division multiple access and a method for controlling the same are provided to increase frame transport efficiency of traffic bursts and reduce unnecessary data processing load of a ground network connecting part of traffic earth stations. CONSTITUTION: Each traffic earth station reads frame data and extracts receiving earth station address signals from the read frame data, so that each traffic earth station inspects the highest level bit to judge unicasting. In the case of the unicasting, the traffic earth stations read the rest of bits to judge whether the bits are addresses of local earth stations. If not, the traffic earth stations read the rest of bits to judge whether the bits are broadcasting. In the case of the broadcasting, the earth stations receive the corresponding data. If not, the earth stations decides to receive data according to groups of the data.

PURPOSE: A PC-based satellite communication terminal and a satellite communication system using the same are provided to offer a multimedia Internet service by a satellite communication through a PC. CONSTITUTION: A forward link receiving unit(100) demodulates, decodes, and PID(Packet ID)-filters a signal received through a satellite antenna(61). A data processing unit(300) processes a forward link signaling message, a control message, and SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol) IP(Internet Protocol) packets, which are outputted from the forward link receiving unit(100). An Ethernet interface(400) interfaces data between the data processing unit(300) and a PC(90). A TDMA(Time Division Multiple Access) transmitting and receiving unit(200) converts IP traffic data from the PC(90) and a message outputted from the data processing unit(300) into signals capable of being transmitted to a satellite.
