    Abstract: PURPOSE: A depolymerization method of fucoidan using electrolysis is provided to improve absorption rate and efficacy of fucoidan by depolymerizing the fucoidan up to an oligosaccharide level in a short time while keeping functional groups of the fucoidan. CONSTITUTION: A depolymerization method of fucoidan using electrolysis comprises the steps of: adding sodium chloride, hydrochloride, KCL, formic acid, and acetic acid to an aqueous solution in which fucoidan of a polymer is dissolved; and electrolyzing a solution containing 0.01~ 3.0 M concentration of ion conductive components at a glow-discharge voltage(10 ~ 200 V) for 10~ 90 minutes.
