Abstract: Some embodiments include an apparatus, method, and computer program product for access point (AP) power save enhancements. AP power save enhancements reduce power consumption for APs including multi-link device (MLD) APs, mobile APs and mobile AP stations. Some embodiments include an uplink (UL) multi-user (MU)-Request to Send (RTS) power save feature, that allows an AP to be available while operating in a low power receive (LPR) state (e.g., low power mode) and transition to a full power mode to receive data using a bandwidth greater than 20 MHz. Some embodiments include a Target Wake Time (TWT) UL MU-RTS AP power enhancement feature that allows an AP to operate in the LPR during a TWT service period (SP). Some embodiments allow mobile devices (e.g., a smart phone) to operate in as an AP (e.g., a mobile AP, a mobile AP station) and reduce power consumption.

Using AP-assisted AP transitions, when the STA is associated with a first access point (AP) and is transitioning to a second AP, a station (STA) can transmit to the second AP a control signal including a first indication for sequence number (SN) maintenance. The STA can receive from the second AP responsive to the first indication for SN maintenance, a first downlink (DL) transmission including a next SN. The next SN can be a continuation of an SN sequence utilized by the first AP for one or more previous DL transmissions.

Abstract: An electronic device (such as an access point) is described. This electronic device transmits an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) frame to a recipient electronic device (such as a client or a station). The OFDMA frame includes multiple predefined resource units (RUs) allocated to the recipient electronic device in a set of predefined RUs having associated frequency bandwidths. Moreover, the multiple predefined RUs include two or more first predefined RUs having a first number of tones less than a predefined amount, or two or more second predefined RUs having a second number of tones greater than or equal to the predefined amount. For example, the predefined amount may include 242 tones. Note that the multiple predefined RUs may have the same or different numbers of tones. Moreover, the electronic may receive an acknowledgment or a block acknowledgment from the recipient electronic device.
