    Abstract: 1417279 Mixed herbicides BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 12 April 1973 [13 April 1972] 17553/73 Heading A5E A herbicidal composition comprises a composition of a) a compound of the formula where R denotes lower alkyl of a maximum of 4 carbon atoms, or a salt thereof, and b) a compound of the formula where n denotes one of the integers 1 and 2, and R denotes phenyl which may optionally be substituted by halogen, nitro and/or trifluoromethyl, or R denotes the radical c) a compound of the formula where R denotes methoxy, alkynyl of 5 carbon atoms or a 5-chloro-4-methylthiazolyl radical and X denotes phenoxymethyl bearing halogen and methyl substituents in the phenyl radical, dichlorophenyl, or C 1 to C 4 alkyl, or d) a compound of the formula where X denotes halogen, methoxy or amino and n denotes one of the integers 1, 2, 3 and 4, it being possible for methoxy and halogen or amino and halogen or methoxy, amino and halogen to be present simultaneously, or e) a compound of the formula where Y denotes hydrogen, hydroxy or the radical X denotes halogen and n denotes the integer 2, or f) a compound of the formula where R denotes halophenyl or aminobenzenesulfonyl and R 1 denotes C 1 to C 4 alkyl or haloalkynyl of 4 carbon atoms, or g) 9-hydroxyfluorenecarboxylic acid-(9), or h) 0, S-dimethyltetrachloromonothioterephthalate, or i) a compound of the formula where R denotes methyl, the radical -CH 2 CON(C 2 H 5 ) 2 or the radical and X denotes an equivalent of an anion (Cl - , Br - , methyl sulfate), or k) a 1, 1'-ethylene-2, 2'-dipyridilium salt.     Abstract: 1424784 Oxime ethers BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 19 April 1973 [22 April 1972] 18925/73 Heading C2C The invention comprises oxime ethers of Formula (I) in which X denotes halogen and R denotes hydrogen, an alkali metal or an acyl radical of formula R 1 CO in which R 1 denotes hydrogen or a substituted or unsubstituted aliphatic or cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon radical or a carbocyclic aryl radical optionally substituted by halogen, NO 2 , CF 3 , CN or alkyl, alkoxy or alkylthio radical having 1-4 carbon atoms. Those compounds in which R is hydrogen or an alkali metal may be prepared by reacting a solution or suspension of a 3,5-dihydro-4-hydroxybenzaldehyde oxime with 2-chloro-5-nitro-benzonitrile in the presence of an excess of alkali metal alcoholate as condensing agent and, if desired, acidifying the alkali metal salt obtained. The compounds of Formula (I) may be treated with an alkylating or acylating agent to replace the group R by a group R 2 which is alkyl, haloalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, aryl, alkoxy carbonyl, alkoxyalkoxycarbonyl, alkylmercaptocarbonyl, alkylmercaptoalkoxycarbonyl, optionally substituted phenoxycarbonyl, mono-substituted carbamoyl or N,N-disubstituted carbamoyl, alkyl sulphonyl or optionally substituted arylsulphonyl, mono- or di-alkyl sulphamoyl; or optionally substituted monoaryl- or alkylarylsulphamoyl. The compounds of Formula (I) above and some of those in which R is replaced by R 2 may be used as active agents in herbicidal compositions.
