Abstract: Concrete comprises organic fibres dispersed in a hardened cement matrix. Concrete comprising organic fibres dispersed in a hardened cement matrix is obtained by mixing with water composition comprising fibres and: (a) cement; (b) granular components with maximum size, D, of no more than 2 mm, preferably no more than 1 mm; (c) fine components from ash with size no greater than 20 microns preferably no greater than 1 microns; and (d) at least one dispersing agent; the composition meeting the following conditions: (e) wt. % water with respect to total weight of (a) and (c) = 8-25; (f) organic fibres have individual length, l , of at least 2 mm and ratio l\/ phi ( phi = diameter) at least = 20; (g) ratio, R, of mean length of fibres to D at least = 5; and (h) quantity of fibres is such that their volume represents no more than 8% total volume of concrete. An independent claim is also included for a cement matrix for making the concrete.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for spraying concrete mixture or mortar, by a dry route or by a wet route, in order to produce on a surface a layer of a concrete mixture or of mortar, whereby the process comprises the following steps: forming a concrete or mortar mixture by adding an aqueous suspension (A) of aluminium oxide and of an aluminum compound being selected from the group comprising aluminum sulfate, alkaline aluminum sulfates, alums and their mixtures, whereby the aqueous suspension (A) has a pH lower than 4 and a solids content of between 10 and 50 percent by weight and, after a period at rest of 48 hours, the aqueous suspension (A) has the form of a gel which is reversible under action of low shear forces. In the present invention there is also claimed the aqueous suspension (A) as an additive for the sprayed concrete mixture or mortar, particularly for increasing thickness of the sprayed layer and for reducing rebound of the concrete or mortar mixture applied to the surface during the spraying step.

Abstract: La presente invencion se relaciona con un procedimiento de proyeccion de hormigon o de mortero por vía seca o humeda, para realizar sobre una superficie, una capa de hormigon o de mortero, en el cual se añade justo antes o al nivel del medio de proyeccion, una suspension acuosa (A) de sílice y de compuesto de aluminio, seleccionado entre el sulfato de aluminio, los sulfatos de aluminio básicos, los alumbres y sus mezclas; esta suspension tiene un pH inferior a 4 y un porcentaje de contenido de materia seca, comprendido entre 10% y 50% en peso, y se presenta, después de un período de reposo de 48 horas, bajo la forma de un gel, ese gel es reversible bajo poco cizallamiento. Se relaciona también con la utilizacion de la suspension acuosa (A), como aditivo para hormigon o mortero que se va a proyectar, sobre todo para aumentar el espesor de la capa proyectada y para disminuir el rebote.

Abstract: Concrete or mortar is sprayed onto a surface by adding an aqueous suspension of silica, and an aluminium cpd. selected from aluminium sulphate, basic aluminium sulphate, alkali metal aluminium sulphate or their mixts.. The suspension has a pH of less than 4, and contains 10-50 wt.% dry material. After storing for 48 hrs., it forms a gel which can be converted back into a suspension by mild stirring.
