Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to keep the target air flow rate for a long period, by using fine particles of resin acid or a bi- or polyvalent metallic complex thereof as an air-entraining agent for concrete. CONSTITUTION:An admixture (air-entraining agent) for concrete obtained by using a water-insoluble or sparingly soluble resin acid or a complex of a polyvalent metal (e.g., Mg, Ba, Zn, Fe or Al) and having 0.05-100mum, preferably 0.05-50mum average particle diameter. The above-mentioned complex is preferably obtained normally by adding a polyvalent metallic hydroxide in an amount of 50-100% based on neutralization equiv. of the resin acid. The amount of the admixture added to the cement is normally 0.001-0.1% based on the cement.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the concrete admixture increasing flowability of concrete and keeping it constant, by constituting the titled admixture with non-aq. solvent soln. of polymer of ethylenic dicarboxylic anhydride or copolymer of other monomer copolymerisable with the anhydride. CONSTITUTION:The polymer of known ethylenic unsaturated dicarboxylic anhydride or copolymer of the anhydride and the other monomer copolymerisable with the anhydride, having 500-5,000 mean mol.wt. is dissolved in the non-aq. solvent such as hydrocarbon, etc. The non-aq. solvent soln. is used as concrete admixture. For example, maleic anhydride, etc., is pref. as the ethylenic unsaturated dicarboxylic anhydride above-mentioned. Vinyl monomer, especially C2-8 olefin and styrene, is pref. as the other monomer polymerisable with the anhydride above-mentioned. Concrete compounded with the concrete admixture of this invention can be hardened by a method for hardening of usual concrete.
