A laundry treatment apparatus and a method for controlling a laundry treatment apparatus are provided. The method may include supplying alternating current at a predetermined first frequency to a compressor (S10); measuring a first time a temperature of refrigerant discharged from the compressor (S20); measuring a second time a temperature of the refrigerant discharged from the compressor (S30), when a predetermined first reference time has passed after the measuring the first time of the temperature of the refrigerant discharged from the compressor; and controlling the first frequency of the alternating current based on a difference between the temperature measured the first time and the temperature measured the second time.

Disclosed is a clothes dryer including a heat exchanger for condensing air discharged from a drum to remove moisture from the air, a collector for collecting condensed water produced in the heat exchanger, a first pump for pumping the condensed water from the collector to a water tank, and a discharge unit for selectively discharging the condensed water from the water tank, to wash the heat exchanger using the condensed water.

In a general aspect, an apparatus for treating clothes includes a filter unit and a substance removal unit. The filter unit is positioned to filter substances from air discharged from an accommodating space and the substance removal unit is configured to move substances remaining on a portion of the filter unit. A method for controlling the apparatus for treating clothes includes detecting a condition related to the apparatus for treating clothes. The method further includes controlling, based on detection of the condition and without user input after detection of the condition, the substance removal unit to start removing substances remaining on the portion of the filter unit.

The present invention relates to a dryer. A method for controlling the operation of a dryer, comprising a heat pump having a variable compressor, comprises the following steps: selecting at least one dryer operating course for supplying air or drying air; raising the compressor driving speed to a target speed while the selected dryer operating course is proceeding; and adjusting the degree of opening of an expansion valve of the heat pump.
