Abstract:
In a system that uses equalization signaling to determine at least one equalization parameter representative of at least one property of a channel, a signal is received on the channel. A rate of change of the at least one property of the channel is estimated. Based on the rate of change of the at least one property of the channel, the equalization signaling is adjusted.
Abstract:
At a first device (102 or 104), a message is received and processed. If the message is processed during a first time period, the first device transmits an acknowledgement message during a second time period; otherwise the first device transmits the acknowledgment message during a third time period. The second time period and the third time period are exclusive of each other.
Abstract:
A first device (102/104) receives a first message (300) from a second device (104/102) over a communication link (106). The first device also receives a first transmit power level (202/212) by which the first message was transmitted and a first interference level (204/208) as perceived by the second device. The first device calculates at least one transmission parameter by which a second message will be transmitted to the second device based on the first transmit power level and the first interference level.

Abstract:
A method for communicating beacon transmissions from a wireless access point (WAP) to a client transceiver in a wireless local area network (WLAN) system (figure 1) includes obtaining a reference timing for the wireless access point. The sector configuration and the sector timing in the WAP is then determined. A virtual target beacon transmission time (TBTT) for the sector of interest serviced by the WAP is then calculated, as is a channel number of the sector of interest Finally, the method provides for listening for a sector beacon signal from the sector of interest at the virtual TBTT and the calculated channel number.
Abstract:
A method for transmitting beacon transmissions in a wireless local area network (WLAN) communications system (figure1) operating on one or more channels includes transmitting a first beacon using a directional antenna in a first direction on a first channel. A second beacon is then transmitted using a directional antenna in a second direction on the first channel. This process is then repeated such that the first beacon and second beacon after a predetermined beacon interval. The first beacon begins its transmission at a target beacon transmission time (TBTT) and the second beacon begins its transmission in a sequential period defined by an antenna switching time after the transmission of the first beacon.
