    Abstract: of the Invention A dielectric block filter which may be mounted on a printed circuit board or other substrate as a single component is disclosed. The dielectric filter utilizes metallized hole foreshortened resonators in the dielectric block, which employs capacitive coupling between resonators controlled in part by an electrode strip coupled to the conductive material covering the majority of the dielectric block surface. Input and output coupling is accomplished via terminals asymmetrically arranged in a mounting bracket. Mounting tabs on the bracket opposite a recessed area holding the dielectric block secure the filter to the circuit board and provide ground connection for the filter. Two or more filters may be arranged on the circuit board to form a duplexer.

    Abstract: The filter consists of a dielectric block with one or more holes 101-106 which extend from the top surface to the bottom surface and on which there is arranged input and output electrodes 124, 125 which each are at a predetermined distance from an adjacent hole (101 and 106 respectively). The dielectric material is preferably ceramic composed of BaO, TiO2 and ZrO2. If there is only one hole in the block the input and output electrodes can be arranged around this hole. If there are two or more holes in the dielectric block one electrode 124 can be arranged close to the hole 101 at one end of the block and the other electrode 125 can be arranged close to the hole 106 at the other end of the block. The dielectric block is completely plated in copper or silver with the exception of areas 140 close to the holes and to each electrode. Each plated hole forms a coaxial resonator. The connection between the adjacent resonators can be regulated using slits 110-114 or further holes placed between the adjacent resonators. Two or more such filters can be connected together to form a unit with greater selectivity or to form a multiband filter for combining and/or frequency sorting of two or more signals into or out of a combined signal.
