Abstract:
A method for preserving wood by contacting wood with a composition comprising an aqueous polymer dispersion, at least one surfactant, and a wood preservative.
Abstract:
Treated fiber substrates and methods of making and using the same are disclosed. The disclosed treated fiber substrates provide persistent, durable, broad spectrum, antimicrobial activity. The treated fiber substrates may be used in a variety of materials to impart antimicrobial activity thereto.
Abstract:
A polymeric nanoparticle having a mean particle diameter of 1 to 10 nm which is useful as a fabric care additive in laundry detergent formulations to improve properties such as softening, crease-resistance, soil and stain removal, soil release, dye transfer, dye fixation, static control and anti-foaming is disclosed. These nanoparticles may be utilized with silicone compounds in the detergent formulation to enhance their fabric care properties or the nanoparticles may be functionalized with silicone groups to significantly enhance various fabric care properties of the detergent formulation.
Abstract:
High pH aqueous coating compositions containing 3-isothiazolone microbicide that have been stabilized against the degradation of the 3-isothiazolone by the addition of low levels of copper ion are disclosed. In particular, aqueous paint compositions containing pH-adjusting amine compounds, where the pH is above 9.5, are effectively stabilized when 1 to 200 ppm of copper ion is added to the paint composition before the 3-isothiazolone is combined with other paint components or if copper ion is added together with the 3-isothiazolone to the remaining paint components or if the 3-isothiazolone is added no more than 1 hour before copper ion is added to the composition.
Abstract:
Disclosed are stable microbicidal compositions of 3-isothiazolone compounds and azobiscarbonyl compounds. Also disclosed are methods of stabilizing 3-isothiazolone compounds against chemical decomposition by combining with the 3-isothiazolones a stabilizing amount of an azobiscarbonyl compound.
Abstract:
Disclosed are compositions containing biologically active compounds that slowly release the biologically active compound. These compositions may be directly incorporated into the locus to be protected or may be applied to a structure in a coating.

Abstract:
Disclosed are controlled release compositions containing biologically active compounds incorporated into metal oxide glass having a porous matrix which is prepared by polymerizing one or more metal alkoxide monomers, optionally in the presence of a second metal alkoxide monomer. These compositions may be directly incorporated into the locus to be protected or may be applied to a structure in a coating.
