Abstract: PURPOSE: To suppress the contrast of an active matrix liquid crystal panel from being lowered without generating a flicker. CONSTITUTION: A panel 2 is provided with pixels 1 arranged in a matrix shape and discharge channels (K, A) as switching means selecting the pixels. A row driving circuit 3 performs scannings of pixel rows by sequentially driving discharge channels over one field period and by selecting pixels every row. A column driving circuit 4 writes a picture signal in selected pixel rows in synchrinization with line scannings. At this time, one field period is time-divided into plural subfield periods, an interlaced scanning in which pixels arc selected every plural lines is performed in one subfield period, the interlaced scanning is performed by shifting one line in the next subfield period and the selections of all subficlds are completed in plural subfield periods. In respective subfield periods, the picture signal having the same polarity is written in selected lines in accordance with interlaced scannings, the picture signal having opposite polarities each other is written in two successive subfield periods and the picutre signal having opposite phases each other is written in two successive field periods.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve positioning accuracy and the printability of alignment marks themselves by improving the shape of the alignment marks in a screen printing method. CONSTITUTION: The alignment marks 4 to be used for positioning of a substrate 1 necessary for the ensuring stage are also previously transferred on this substrate 1 simultaneously at the time of transferring printing patterns 2 to the substrate 1 by using screen masks. The alignment marks 4 having the longitudinal shapes short along a first direction F where the positioning accuracy is high and long along a second directions where the positioning accuracy orthogonal therewith is low are used. For example, the alignment marks 4 having the longitudinal shapes short along the first direction F orthogonal with the stripes of the printing patterns 2 and long along the second direction S parallel with the stripes are used at the time of transferring the striped printing patterns 2 to the substrate 1.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To substantially prevent a screen from showing any display flaws even in the case of an incomplete discharging channel separation. CONSTITUTION: A plasma address display device is provided with a flat panel 1, a scanning circuit 2 and a signal circuit 3. The flat panel 1 has a alternately laminated structure of plasma cells provided with scanning lines consisting of striped electric discharge channels 5 and liquid crystal cells provided with signal lines 4 orthogonally crossing the scanning lines. Picture elements 6 are specified at the crossing parts of the scanning lines 5 and the signal lines 4. The scanning circuit 2 selectively drives the electric discharge channels 5 for selective scanning of the scanning lines. The signal circuit 3 impresses the picture signals on the signal lines 4 in synchronism with the selective scanning and writes the picture signals in the picture elements 6. The scanning circuit 2 divide all the scanning lives for setting multiple blocks B1, B2, B3 and B4, and sequentially selects one scanning line from individual blocks one by one for interlaced scanning. The signal circuit 3, when impressing the picture signals on each signal lines 4 in synchronism with the interlaced scanning, controls the picture signal polarities to be alternately inverted at each selection of a scanning line, and to have the same polarity within each block.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To facilitate manufacturing by increasing the allowable dislocation of the electrode of a discharging cell. CONSTITUTION:A discharging cell has a flat panel structure consisting of one substrate 1 and the other substrate 2 connected to the substrate 1 through a specific area of space. A stripe-shape positive electrode A and a cathode K are alternately provided on the substrate 1. A barrier 4 is interposed between the substrates 1 and 2, and the space between the substrates are divided by the barriers provided in stripe, and a discharging channel 5 is thus formed. The positive electrode A is provided directly under the barrier 4, and has broader width than that of the barrier 4. The negative electrode K is provided between the adjacent barriers 4. Even when the barrier 4 is relatively displaced, the exposed surface area of the negative electrode K controlling plasma discharging is maintained at a constant level.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To suppress the generation of bubbles even if a discharge system of a relatively low vacuum is used by injecting liquid crystals to panels by simultaneous vacuum injection. CONSTITUTION:This device is constituted of a vacuum chamber A and vacuum chamber B which are independent from each other. A vessel 2 for housing the liquid crystal 1 is housed in the one vacuum chamber A. This vessel 2 is driven by a motor 3 and drops the liquid crystal 1 at need. Both of the chamber A and the chamber B are evacuated to sufficiently evacuate the inside of the liquid crystal cell 5 via an injection hole 7 and a discharge hole 8. The vessel in the chamber A is then inclined by driving the motor 3 to drop the liquid crystal 1 near to the injection hole 7 enclosed by an O-ring 9 and to form a liquid crystal pool, by which the injection hole 7 is closed with the liquid crystal 1. The chamber A is thereafter leaked and the injection of the liquid crystal is started. The evacuation operation of the chamber B is kept continued during the injection of the liquid crystal and the air in the liquid crystal cell 5 is kept sucked from the discharge hole 8.

CONSTITUTION:This device consists of a liquid crystal cell substrate 4 which has plural signal electrodes D arranged in parallel to one another along a specific main surface, a plasma cell substrate 7 which has mutually parallel plasma electrodes 8 deposited to be opposed to the the liquid crystal cell substrate at right angles to the signal electrodes D, a liquid crystal layer 6 which is interposed between both the substrates, and a plasma chamber 11 which is formed between the liquid crystal layer 6 and plasma cell substrate 7 and wherein ionizable gas is charged. A partition wall 9 is formed only at the cathode K of the plasma electrode 8 and partially covered. The exposure area of the cathode K becomes small, so a discharging current can be suppressed and the voltage drop is also suppressed.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To achieve uniform focusing characteristics over the whole screen area by furnishing quadripolar lenses of astigmatic effect in two places, i.e., near the main lens part and near the deflection part, and specifying the longitudinal to transverse ratio of the image focusing magnification at the screen center of a synthetic lens. CONSTITUTION:Between the main lens 2 of an electron gun and the center of beam deflecting yoke 5, for ex. a magnet 4. coil, etc., are installed so as to provide astigmatic lens effect. Therein an excessive correction shall be made so that the longitudinal to transverse ratio of the image focusing magnification at the screen center of a synthetic lens with gun 1 will lie in the range 1.1-1.5. The place with main lens 2 of the gun 1 for improving defocus at the screen center is furnished with the oppositely directed astigmatic lens effect, for ex. by installing a magnet 3, coil, etc., or by varying the shape of gun parts. Thereby focus balance over the whole screen area can be achieved.

As a result, centralized compensation of an electron beam can be performed in a simple constitution easily without deterioration of spot characteristics.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the sealing of glass sealing part for a lead and improve reliability by taking out the lead, formed on a controlling electrode in a given manner, from a tube body, and forming an oxide film on a lead other than for the controlling electrode, at the glass sealing part of the tube body. CONSTITUTION:After an oxide film 41 is formed by once oxidation-treating the lead frame surface, a lead frame 31, wherein a sealing part between a lead 35 and a glass box 6, i.e., its frit 5, is left as it is and an oxide film 4 on the other part including a second grid G2 is removed, is used. Therefore, an oxide film 41 intimate with the frit 5 is formed on the lead 35 taken out from the glass box 6, at the sealing part between the lead 35 and the frit 5, so that the very good sealing state of the glass box at the lead taken out part can be achieved. At the same time, the surface of the second grid G2 has no oxide film 4 so that an electron current Ic2 is stabilized, hence dispersion of anode current Ip can be eliminated and light emission unevenness between fluorescent segments can be reduced.
