Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet printer which can print an image with a sufficient gradation, and a gradation control method of the inkjet printer.
SOLUTION: An error diffusion method makes input image data multivalued according to a plurality of thresholds set by a dither control part 13 depending on the number output gradation levels; an ink dot diameter control part 15 makes a multivalued value converted into a driving signal for controlling a diameter of a droplet of liquid ink in a plurality of stages in accordance with a predetermined relationship: and the driving signal is output to a head drive part 4 via a D/A conversion part 17. Printing is performed by means of a printhead 7, in accordance with a head application signal based on the head driving signal output from the head drive part 4.

SOLUTION: In a print head 101, a ratio K/N is an irreducible fraction with the proviso that N is the number of nozzles, K is the interval of nozzles. Line scanning printing of an image is intermittently performed at a Scan 1 and paper feeding by lines of nozzle number is performed in the sub-scanning direction by a unit of K. The above operation is repeated, then the printing of the image in the resolution more precise than the actual interval of nozzles in the sub-scanning direction is performed. A setting value related to K is taken as a parameter and an interleave operation is executed based on the setting value.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control mutual interference between recorded dots and to increase picture quality by outputting original recording data and interpolating data respectively during a separate scanning period and performing recording in the case of performing prescribed recording on the basis of both the original recording data to be recorded and the interpolating data. SOLUTION: In the case of performing prescribed recording on the basis of both original recording data to be recorded e.g. original image data 181A to be imaged and interpolating data e.g. interpolation edge data 181B for emphasizing the edge of an image, the original recording data and the interpolating data are outputted respectively during a separate scanning period. Therefore, when one picture element is formed, ink adheres to recording paper 180 and is fixed. Even when other ink is allowed to adhere to the following adjacent position and the following picture element is formed, these ink does not mutually interfer in any way. Thereby, when density of the picture element is increased, it is controlled that ink on the recording paper blurs and ink is mutually mixed.

The printing data of 8 bits to which this error detection data is added is supplied to the interface circuit 102. Further, the control signal from the main body 101 is supplied to the interface circuit 102 and arbitrary command data and printing data are selected to be transmitted.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compensate for a change of the waveform of the drive signal due to the change of the value of the capacity component of an electro- mechanical transducer. SOLUTION: The drive signal to be input to a terminal 21 is supplied to a variable gain amplifier 23 via a buffer amplifier 22 and to a piezo element 25 via a power amplifier 24. The drive signal from the terminal 21 is supplied to a delay circuit 2 via a buffer amplifier 26. The signal supplied to the element 25 is supplied to a signal correcting circuit 29 via a buffer amplifier 28. The signals from the circuits 27 and 29 are supplied to a differential amplifier 30, and the differential component of the signals is supplied to the amplifier 23. Accordingly, the gain of the amplifier 23 is feedback controlled so that the signals supplied to the terminal 21 and to the element 25 become the predetermined relationship decided by the circuit 29.

The nozzle interval P of the first printing heads are arranged so as to satisfy the relation of P=K×D (wherein K is the number of dot intervals and D is a dot interval).
