Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form the depth of a magnetic gap with high accuracy. SOLUTION: Groove parts 18 for checking the depth of the front gap are formed approximately parallel to sliding surfaces 9 on at least either one of a pair of magnetic core half bodies 2, 3 in such a manner that both ends thereof face both side surfaces of the magnetic head 1. These grooves 18 are so formed as to lack the ends of front part butt surfaces 11 on the side opposite to the sliding surfaces 9. As a result, the positions at the side edges on the sliding surface side of the groove parts 18 are always depth zero positions. Then, the medium sliding surfaces are polished with the side edges on the sliding surface side of the groove parts as a reference, by which the adjustment of the depth of the magnetic gap is executed with the high accuracy and core efficiency may be improved.

SOLUTION: In a magnetic head formed by joining and integrating a pair of magnetic core halves 4, 5, forming a front gap 10 between junction surfaces, and forming a thin film coil 6 on the junction surface of at least one magnetic core half 4, a groove 7 for determining a depth-zero position of the front gap 10 is formed on the junction surface of at least one of the magnetic core halves 4, 5 in such a manner as to be substantially parallel' to a medium sliding surface, and this groove 7 is caused to be a gap depth checking marker 14 exposed to the lateral side of the magnetic core halves 4, 5.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to easily execute connection without laborious stages by forming thin-film coils on the butt surfaces of magnetic core half bodies and forming the terminals of these thin-film coils within the same plane as the plane of the head flanks intersecting with these butt surfaces. SOLUTION: The end faces of the magnetic core half bodies 3, 4 on which the magnetic metallic layers 13 constituting the magnetic paths of the respective one sides on a pair of base bodies 1, 2 consisting of nonmagnetic materials are butted against each other on the side formed with these magnetic layers 13, by which the magnetic core half bodies are joined and integrated. Winding grooves 5 are formed in the magnetic metallic layers 13 of the half bodies 3, 4 and are provided with windings consisting of the thin-film coils 6. The thin-film coils 6 are formed on the butt surfaces of the core half bodies 3, 4. The terminals 7 of the thin-film coils are formed on the butt surfaces within the same plane as the plane of the flanks of the magnetic head 10. The electrical connection to the outside is executed from the terminals 7.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance accuracy of gap depth and to improve yield and reliability by forming a depth regulating groove after cutting a magnetic core half block and grinding and eliminating a projecting part in both end parts on an upper surface of a magnetic core block respectively. SOLUTION: Two winding grooves 15 are formed on the magnetic core half block 33 along its longitudinal direction, and afterward, the depth regulating groove 34 for regulating the gap depth in advance is formed in a middle part of the magnetic core half block 33 along its longitudinal direction. Then, by bisecting the magnetic core half block 33 along its logitudinal direction, one pair of magnetic core half blocks are produced. Subsequently, the two individual magnetic core half blocks are butted against each other with their respective multilayer films opposite to each other, and they are integrally joined up to produce the magnetic core block. In this case, the projecting part is formed in both end parts on the upper surface of the block respectively. Then, these projecting parts are ground to be eliminated after cutting the magnetic core half block 33.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain a good reproduced output and production yield and high reliability by previously setting the glass transition point of glass films higher than the glass yield point of fused glass and heating the glass films up to a temp. higher than the glass transition point, then making pressurization zero at a temp. lower than the glass transition point at the time of cooling the fused glass. CONSTITUTION:First and second magnetic core half bodies 101, 102 obtd. by forming track width regulating grooves 103, 104 on the opposite surfaces of magnetic ferrite materials 108, 109 and forming ferromagnetic metallic films 110, 111 on these opposite surfaces are formed. The glass films (not shown in Fig.) are formed on the magnetic metallic films 110, 111 and the glass transition point Tg1 of the glass is set higher than the glass yield point Tc2 of the fused glass 105 melted and filled into the groove parts between the track width regulating grooves 103, 104 of the first and second magnetic core half bodies. The fused glass is heated to the temp. higher than the glass transition point Tg1 and is then cooled and the pressurization is made zero at the temp. lower than the glass transition point Tg1 at the time of joining and integrating a pair of the magnetic core half bodies 101, 102 by melting and joining the glass films to each other under pressurization and simultaneously melting and filling the fused glass 105.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To lessen the inclination of a magnetic head chip and a sticking surface by adjusting the height of a front end at the time of adhering the magnetic head chip by an adhesive by bringing the magnetic head chip into contact with the sticking surface of a base for fixing the chip with the ridge of the rear surface as a fulcrum. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic head chip 4 on the preceding side is stuck to the sticking surface M of the base 3 for fixing the chip by using the instant set adhesive 7 having a shrinkage rate of some ten %. The UV curing type adhesive 11 of the shrinkage rate of some ten % is thereafter applied on the rear surface of the magnetic head chip 8 on the succeeding side and the ridge 12 of the chip 8 is brought into contact with the sticking surface M. The front end of the chip 8 with the ridge 12 as a fulcrum is irradiated with the UV rays to cure the adhesive 11 after a level difference between the chips 4 and 8 is adjusted in a vertical direction of an arrow a while the difference in level is monitored. The double azimuth head 10 constituted in such a manner is worked with the ridge 12 with high accuracy and the inclination with the sticking surface M of the chip 8 is lessened.
