Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting diode (LED) spectrophotometer having improved spectrum range, that includes the ultraviolet range. SOLUTION: The light-emitting diode (LED) spectrophotometer includes a visible spectrophotometer 12, having a plurality of LEDs for emitting light to a sheet 30 of an object, at least one detector for detecting the light, after the light emission to a sheet 30 to produce an output, and ultraviolet light-emitting diodes (UVLEDs) 7 for emitting ultraviolet spectrum neighborhood light in the neighborhood of the ultraviolet spectrum, to produce outputs that communicate with one detector. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an enhanced color print and display method and system. SOLUTION: A color output device is generally driven by at least three independent control signals for control of its response. A desired response in device independent color space is normally obtained by employing a cascade consisting of a characterization transform and calibration transform. The calibration transform transforms input control variables into output control variables that are directly used to drive the device. Input control variables can be transformed into intermediate control variables, which can be then mapped to output control variables utilizing a two-dimensional transformation. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost and fast spectrophotometer that especially is suited for an on-line color print color control system. SOLUTION: A plurality of test patches having different colors are simultaneously irradiated, and color analysis is made essentially simultaneously and separately. A small number of test print sheets where a compact test patch, where a plurality of different colors are adjacent, is printed in a plurality of sets may be used. The reflection image of color test patches having a plurality of different colors is simultaneously focused on different regions in a light detection chip 14, a plurality of sets of light sites reacting with different colors are exposed to light, and a plurality of different color signals may be provided to each of different color test patch images.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of measuring color of a material having an irregular surface which exhibits different color intensity depending on the viewing angle. SOLUTION: A sampling area of the irregular surface material is illuminated approximately perpendicularly thereto, and the color reflected from the area is measured at a predetermined angle, preferably 45°. The measurement is conducted with a plurality of individual photodetectors 14 arranged spaced apart circularly around the illuminated sampling area of the material 30 having an irregular surface to receive reflected illumination from substantially opposite directions and at a predetermined angle to the illuminated area. A more accurate and low-cost color measuring system is thereby provided for textiles. This system can be used easily, quickly, and handling, positioning, and orientation of the textiles to be tested has no significance. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
