Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce or eliminate registration errors in a printing system that carries a plurality of medium sheets placed on a belt.SOLUTION: The system includes steps for identifying a first displacement amount of a sheet carrying device and a second displacement amount of the sheet carrying device when the sheet carrying device carries a medium sheet passing through first and second printheads, respectively, for the image processing of a predetermined location of the medium sheet. A time for operating the second printhead is adjusted based on a difference between a first sheet carrying device offset and a second sheet carrying device offset to provide color registration between ink drops of the first printhead and second printhead on the medium sheet.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct marking printing system configured to align a position of a medium without distorting an image.SOLUTION: A registration system can include a deskewing system, a reflexive system, and a controller 170. The deskewing system is configured to deskew substrate media 102. The reflexive system is configured to detect the lateral position of the substrate media and at least one of a lead edge and a trail edge of the substrate media being transported in the process direction. The controller is operatively coupled to the reflexive system and is configured to control ejection of ink from a print head system 160 in response to detecting the lateral position of the substrate media and at least one of the lead edge and the trail edge of the substrate media.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for position-adjusting a sheet moved in a treatment direction along a conveying route in a medium handling assembly. SOLUTION: The device includes a sheet position-adjustment nip assembly (2) and a controller (30) for changing characteristic feature of the sheet relative to the conveying route. The controller (30) feeds a first signal for giving target characteristic feature to the sheet to the sheet position-adjustment nip assembly until the sheet reaches to preliminary position-adjustment reference arranged along the conveying route between the sheet position-adjustment nip assembly and delivery position-adjustment reference arranged in the downstream. Further, the controller (30) changes second sheet characteristic feature to the target characteristic feature by feeding a second signal to the sheet position-adjustment nip assembly when at least a part of the sheet is arranged between the preliminary position-adjustment reference and the delivery position-adjustment reference along the conveying route. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide media registration in a printer and a copier for improving performance without increasing cost. SOLUTION: This media registration system includes a process of measuring an electric current/voltage level including at least one of an electric current and voltage level impressed on a driving motor connected to a driving roller in a driving nip assembly adapted so as to move media in one of printing and copying devices, a process of determining a difference between a speed of the driving roller and a speed of the media on the basis of the electric current/voltage level, and a process of changing the electric current/voltage level impressed on the driving motor when an actual speed of the media is different from an expected speed of the media. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet positioning system, in particular, for a printer having an inexpensive system of small mass movement, in particular, for a high-speed printer, capable of performing both of the skew correcting operation for the sheet and the repositioning operation for side positioning the sheet in the same integral system. SOLUTION: Both of two nips 17A, 17B mounted at an interval for feeding a sheet can be driven only by one main driving motor M1, two sheet feeding nips mounted at an interval are moved with relative difference in angle inexpensively with very small power, and the skew correction is performed in a differential driving system to realize the skew correction movement of the desired amount of sheets. The mass of elements moving in parallel in the lateral direction is reduced over a wide range for lateral sheet positioning. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for preventing a paper trailing edge printing from being deleted which can handle a paper so that components for forming images can move in proximity to the paper without any obstruction. SOLUTION: A biasing member 600 can firmly hold the paper on a paper path to a paper guide 610 by communicating with the paper guide 610. A printer 630 is enabled to contact the paper 620 near the trailing edge of the paper 620. The biasing member 600 applies a bias to the paper guide 610, preferably applies a force to the paper guide 610 so that the paper 620 is stretched tight to a farther point along the paper path. Images can be formed normally on the paper 620 with the use of the printer 630 by maintaining the paper 620 in the stretch state.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on demand ink jet printer in which the movement accuracy of a recording medium relative to the print head of a printer and the ink drop arranging accuracy on the recording medium are enhanced. SOLUTION: A carrying belt is charged electrostatically with charges 46 of one polarity. A recording medium 24 is fed on the carrying belt and held precisely at a positioning position on the carrying belt. Charges of opposite polarity are induced in an ink drop 38 jetted from a print head 16 to generate an electrostatic voltage for accelerating the ink drop 38 toward the recording medium 24. Since the ink drop 38 is accelerated, the effect of transverse force due to a transverse air flow, or the like, on the directivity of the ink drop 38 is reduced. Furthermore, the arranging error of the ink drop 38 caused by an already printed image repelling the arriving ink drop 38 is reduced because the charges of a printed ink drop 38 are passed through the recording medium 24 and canceled.
