Abstract:
A limb rehabilitation device is provided, comprising a plurality of rollers with cups and the rollers are mounted on spring mounts. The forearm or another limb can be placed between the rollers for therapeutic massage of the limb and the soft tissue thereon. The cups of the rollers aim to produce compression, shearing, and lifting of the tissue.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for hydrotherapeutic stimulation having a handle with housing with exterior engagement surfaces for contacting a user's lower body. An air-water stream generator, coupled to a water inlet and an air inlet, positioned in housing and a pump means imparts an increase in pressure and flow of water within housing to outlet nozzle. An electrical source is electrically connected to the pump means within the housing. An air-water stream outlet nozzle located within the fore portion of the housing and connected to air-water stream generator for transmission of air-water stream onto user's lower body positioned fore of air-water stream outlet nozzle. Either distended portion or attachment at fore portion of housing, upon insertion in an anal or a vaginal orifice in the user fixes the position of housing in relation to user's lower body thereby allowing handle further control of air- water stream outlet nozzle and stimulation.
Abstract:
An adapter (17) for use with a whirlpool tub (1) having an interior tub wall (2) and a drain (3), and a piping system (8) with a suction opening (9) at an ingress side (11), a multitude of jets (12) at an egress side (13), and a selectively operable circulation pump (14) for circulating liquid from the suction opening to the multitude of jets. The adapter (17) includes a body (18) having an inlet (19) for flow communication with a supply of cleaning liquid, and a generally circular outlet (21) for sealingly placing over the suction opening for connecting the suction opening to a supply of cleaning liquid for enabling open circuit circulation of cleaning liquid through the piping system (8) on operation of the circulation pump (14) for discharge via the whirlpool tub's drain.
Abstract:
The present invention provides improved oculomotor testing devices and pain tolerance testing devices. Certain oculomotor testing devices test parameters including response time, reaction time, and movement time, as well as precision. The devices are adapted for ambulatory as well as semi-ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals. Methods of using the devices are provided wherein a visual stimulus is provided and the individual is instructed to perform a movement specific to that visual stimulus. Preferably, the device records the movement done in response to the visual stimulus and, with the aid of a computing device, factors out errors and measures the desired parameter. One embodiment of the present invention permits a user to observe a real-time visual feedback of the force exerted on a load cell. The individual can increase or decrease the amount of force exerted in response to the display of force on a visual feedback exhibitor. Such a device can measure the pain tolerance of an individual by correlating the length of time the individual can maintain a certain exerted force on the load cell with their tolerance for pain.
Abstract:
There is described an automatic heart massager (1) for use in a catheterization room. The heart massager (1, 110) comprises a support platform (2) for the back of the patient undergoing heart massage and at least two uprights (4, 40) which rise laterally from said support platform (2). The two uprights (4, 40) each contain an actuator for moving a transverse bridge (5, 50) with a pad (6) for compressing the patient's chest, perpendicularly to the support platform (2). At least the transverse bridge (5, 50) and the support platform (2) are made of a radiolucent material.
Abstract:
Foot care devices include a battery-powered vibration motor disposed inside a water-tight housing, a foot treatment element attached to the upper surface of the housing, and surface immobilizing suction cups attached to the bottom of the housing to inhibit positional movement of the device during use. Foot treatment elements have exfoliating pumice, massaging protuberances, and/or cleaning bristles and vibrate during operation of the motor. Cushioning pads between the upper surface of the housing and the attached foot treatment element reduce rattling noises during operation of the motor. Foot treatment elements also have drain holes extending therethrough and the housing has a drain channel for draining water off the upper surface. The devices can also have one or more stabilizing platform extending therefrom. Foot pressure applied to the platform during operation further reduces positional movement. Foot care kits can have a plurality of interchangeable foot treatment elements.
Abstract:
A plunger adapter and a detachable compression pad for piston driven chest compression devices optimizes the application of chest compressions to a fixed location on a patient's chest. The detachable compression pad may be removably secured to the patient above the patient ' s sternum to ensure that the compression pressure from the piston through the piston adapter is applied to a fixed location on the patient's chest. As the plunger and plunger adapter retract from the chest, the compression pad remains fixed to the patient's chest, and as the plunger and plunger adapter extend from the chest compression unit for subsequent compression strokes, the distal end of the plunger adapter reengages the compression pad to apply compression to a fixed location on the patient's chest.
Abstract:
There is provided a soft bubbling bath mat having a mat body of molded flexible material that houses a soft flexible foam pad adapted to fit between an outer edge of the mat body an interior air passageway. The air passageway is adapted at one end to form an inlet port. The inlet port is adapted to receive air to be fed from a compressed air source to the passageway and forced through the passageway and out through a plurality of small apertures ina top surface of the passageway creating a therapeutic bubbling massage effect.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a water massage device for use in a bath tub. Said device contains a handpiece (1) which comprises a motor (2) with a pump wheel (3) in order to guide a water/air stream out of at least one outlet opening (6) of the handpiece (1) via at least one air suction opening (4) and via at least one water suction opening (5). Rechargeable batteries (7) and a circuit (8) are integrated in the handpiece (1) next to the motor (2). Said batteries are provided for supplying current and the circuit (8) is provided for operating and controlling the motor (2) in addition to discharging and charging the batteries (7). A standing piece (9) is provided on which the handpiece (1) can be placed, whereby a non-tipping form closure is produced between the handpiece (1) and the standing piece (9) by corresponding elements. Batteries (7) of the handpiece (1) are charged on inductive paths via the peg element (10) by means of a charging unit (12) contained in said standing piece (9).
Abstract:
The present invention generally relates to mobility aids and in particular, but not exclusively, to a portable device for releasably securing a mobility aid such as a cane, a crutch, a pole, a walking stick umbrella or other walking aids in a desired position. The device comprises an attachment operable to be connected to a fastener for releasably securing a mobility aid in a desired position. The attachment joins the fastener in a manner such that the fastener and attachment are capable of movement relative to each other in at least two planes. As such, the portable securing device may be used on a plurality of surfaces, which may be located on different planes or orientation.
