Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a working fluid filtering device of an electric discharge machine which does not require the replacement of a working fluid in a water-reserve tank after the end of filter cleaning and carries out filter cleaning in a proper period, thus allowing the effective use of the filter.SOLUTION: A filtering tank is lowered by driving a cylinder to stick a seal closely to a filtering material. A filter pump P2 is operated to start filtering. When a signal from a pressure sensor 25 is received, it is determined whether the signal from the pressure sensor 25 has exceeded a given value. When the signal has exceeded the given value, the filter pump P2 is stopped, and the cylinder is driven to lift the filtering tank to separate the seal from the filtering material. A filter recovery roll 11b then starts to roll up a first filter F1 by one section. When a filter supply roll finishes to supply the first filter F1, a motor is stopped and an alarm signal is sent out. When the filter supply roll 11a does not finish filter the supply, the filter recovery roll 11b rolls up the first filter F1 by one section, and after that, the next filtering is succeeded.

Abstract: A regenerative filter that includes a filter housing having inlet and outlet zones; a fluid path provided between the inlet and outlet zones; a plurality of filter elements each having an outer surface filter media applied thereto and functioning to filter particulate or contaminants from the fluid path. The filter elements are disposed in an monolithic array. An inlet port arrangement is disposed at the filter housing leading to the inlet zone and is constructed and arranged to direct the fluid path into the filter housing in a manner so as to maintain a controlled turbulence at the inlet zone. Abstract: A method and system for water-priming carbon micropore filter media using negative pressure. The method includes placing dry filter elements in a polymer bag, applying a vacuum of no more than approximately 33 kPa above zero pressure, and heat-sealing the bag using a heat-set bar; submerging, by a consumer, the vacuum-sealed bag with its the filter elements in water; the filters in the vacuum sealed bag are at least partially submerged, puncturing the bag to form one or more small openings in the bag below the water line. Breeching the vacuum causes the water to flow through the openings into the bag and the filter(s) to equalize the pressure between the water and the previously vacuum environment of the plastic bag, causing the surrounding water to quickly flow into the micro-pores of the filter media, thereby priming the carbon filter for use in the gravity-fed water-purification system.

Abstract: A filter apparatus includes a filter, such as a cartridge, positioned within a housing. The filter apparatus has multiple ports and valves, so as to allow a user to easily switch between a filtration mode of filtering fluids and a maintenance mode of cleaning the filter. The filter can have a filter substrate in a housing and after filtrate builds up on the substrate, the substrate can be cleaned by directing a spray of fluid, such as from a ring of nozzles at the top of the housing, onto the substrate. A maintenance port can be provided to drain the debris washed from the substrate. The filter can switch between a backwash mode and a filtration mode.
