CONSTITUTION: The tip parts of face plates 21 and 22 of a hollow shape member 20 are connected by a rib 24, and joined with the tip parts of the face plates 11 and 12 of a hollow shape member 10 by a friction stir joining method. The visible outline of the joined part of the tip part of the face plate 21 (22) and the rib 24 is formed by circular arcs 31 (33) and 32 (34) which are recessed towards the side of the hollow shape member 20. The diameter of the circular arc 31 (33) is smaller than the diameter of the circular arc 32 (34). Thus the structure body is made light in weight.

When an oxide film 1a is formed on the surface of the first metallic member 1, to which surface the high wettability metal 3 has not stuck in the metal sticking step, by the heating in the joining step, excellent corrosion resistance is given to the first metallic member 1.
