The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a lactone or lactam homopolymer, comprising the stage consisting in reacting a lactone or lactam with a nonpolymeric initiator comprising at least one hydroxyl or thiol functional group in a nonchlorinated solvent in the presence of a sulfonic acid of formula R—SO3H.It also relates to the polymer composition thus obtained and to its uses, in particular as antistatic additive.

There is provided an antistatic agent that preserves its antistatic property for a long period of time and has the appearance and the transparency that are not impaired when kneaded into a resin, and a resin composition containing the antistatic agent. An antistatic agent including a block copolymer which is obtained from a reaction product of a polyolefin (a) having one end being acid-modified and a diol and/or a diamine (b) having a polyoxyalkylene chain, and in which a part or all of acid groups remaining in the reaction product is neutralized with an alkaline substance. A thermoplastic resin composition including the antistatic resin. A film or sheet including the thermoplastic resin composition.

The invention relates to an aqueous impregnating resin solution containing (A) between 77.5 and 99.8 wt. %, in relation to the impregnating resin solution, of aqueous condensates based on melamine and formaldehyde; (B) between 0.1 and 20 wt. %, in relation to the impregnating resin solution, of at least one specific quaternary ammonium compound; and (C) between 0.1 and 2.5 wt. %, in relation to the impregnating resin solution, of an aqueous hardener solution. The invention also relates to an aqueous impregnating resin solution consisting of constituents (A) and (B), and to an aqueous hardener mixture consisting of constituents (B) and (C). The invention further relates to an impregnating resin film containing fibrous substances containing cellulose and impregnated with the aqueous impregnating resin solution, and to the use of the aqueous impregnating resin solution, or impregnating resin film, for the antistatic finishing of coated materials.

The object of the present invention is to provide an antistatic agent used for thermoplastic resin having aromatic ring(s) such as a styrene group resin, polyester resin, or the like A graft copolymer whose main chain is acrylic rubber and graft chain is of a polymer chain mainly consisting of a styrene group monomer or copolymer chain mainly consisting of a styrene group monomer and nitrile group monomer is used as said antistatic agent. Besides said graft copolymer, antistatic properties are is given to said thermoplastic resin by blending said thermoplastic resin with a compound having a hydrophilic group so as to be a blend polymer or a polymer alloy. Further, antistatic properties are given to a resin molded article by coating it with a paint containing hydrophilic polymer.

A substantially transparent antistatic, impact resistant, molding composition comprises a miscible mixture of a polycarbonate resin and a cycloaliphatic polyester resin, and an antistatic polymeric material wherein the mixture of the polycarbonate and the cycloaliphatic polyester resin is present in suitable proportions for substantially matching the index of refraction of the antistatic polymeric material.

To provide an antistatic film, an antistatic foam sheet or an antistatic bubble sheet which has favorable physical properties, such as a continued antistatic effect and a high strength, and which causes little contamination of rollers or other devices when the sheet is formed. The antistatic film according to the present invention is characterized in that it is made of a polyethylene-based resin composition containing a polyethylene-based resin and a high-polymer-type, polyether-based antistatic agent. Furthermore, the antistatic foam sheet and the bubble sheet according to the present invention are characterized in that they are made of a polyolefin-based resin composition containing a polyolefin-based resin and a high-polymer-type antistatic agent.
