A fuseholder and connecting assembly for fusing a circuit and connecting two insulated wires (13, 14), comprising a pair of tubular housing members (15L, 15R), each housing member having a connection chamber, a fuse chamber and a conductive member (W1), extending between the connection chamber and the fuse chamber. The conductive member having a bullet shaped portion (23') located in the connection chamber and a fuse engaging portion (61) located in the fuse chamber. A clamp member (31') having an externally threaded surface for threaded engagement with the threaded interior wall of the connection chamber. The clamp member also having a through bore which is adapted to receive a wire end which is to be connected to the bullet shaped end of the conductive member and clamp the wire end in the connection chamber.

The invention concerns a circuit of the type comprising at least one upstream cut-out metal conductive element (46) with solid cross-section substantially constant over its entire length and a downstream cable (18, 30) to a brush (20), and means forming a circuit breaker including a segment (30) of specific reduced cross-section of the conductor belonging to said downstream cable (18, 30), which break the circuit by melting said segment when the current is too strong. The invention is characterized in that said upstream conductive element (46) comprises a portion (52) with reduced cross-section for reducing thermal conduction phenomena through said upstream conductive element (46). The invention is applicable to a motor vehicle starter.

Beschrieben wird ein Sicherungshalter für einen Sicherungseinsatz (1), aus dessen Gehäuse (2) zwei Anschlußlaschen (4) herausstehen. Die Anschlußlaschen (4) sind außen jeweils mit einer Anschlußleitung (6) verbindbar. Sie sind innerhalb des Gehäuses (2) mit dem Schmelzleiter verbunden. Damit die Montage vereinfacht und die Zuverlässigkeit der elektrischen Funktion verbessert werden, wird erfindungsgemäß vorgesehen, daß die Anschlußlasche (4) als Krimpanschluß (5) für die direkte elektrische und mechanische Verbindung mit der Anschlußleitung (6) ausgestaltet ist, wobei vorzugsweise der Krimpanschluß (5) zum Gehäuse (2) des Sicherungseinsatzes (1) hin Biegeklemmlaschen (8) für den elektrischen Leiter und zur Anschlußleitung (6) hin Klemmteile zum mechanischen Umgreifen des Mantels der Anschlußleitung (6) aufweist.

A microfuse (10) with a ceramic chip (12), thick film pads (14), fusible wire (16), attached to pads (14) without solder or flux, in an insulating enclosure or fuse tube (40). Ferrules (42) are attached to metallized areas (14) with solder (44). Performance and manufacturing of fuse (10) is improved by utilizing a wire bonding technique to improve the quality of the manufacturing process and increase the reliability of the fuse, and to reduce manufacturing cost.

An electrical component such as a fuse is modified so that the ends of the component are the electrical and mechanical equivalent to the ends of a high voltage shielded power cable and can be terminated to electrical equipment or jointed to high voltage power cables using conventional techniques. For example, the modified ends of the component can be connected to such equipment or cables by means of a typical high voltage separable insulated connector, such as a standard elbow connector or separable joint. The electrical component is provided with a pair of elongated conductors (16, 18) extending from each end (12, 14) of the component (10) with an insulating layer (22) covering the component and at least a portion of the conductors, leaving the ends of the conductors free of insulation, and an outer conductive shield (24) over the insulating layer. A corona control layer (20) can be positioned between the insulating layer and the component, if required to suppress corona discharge. The corona control layer can be of a semi-conductive polymer-based material. The corona control layer, insulation layer and outer shield can be applied as heat-shrinkable tubing.

A holder (1) for plate fuses consisting of a shaped plate in dielectric plastic comprising two sides (1a, 1b) and one central portion (1c), said sides (1a, 1b) being provided with ribbings (11,11b, 12,12b) for housing and keeping in position a pair of plane metal receptacles having a wire or a plate orthogonal to the receptacle itself, the sides (1a, 1b) being furthermore foldable one towards the other so as to hold the metal receptacles, each side laterally bearing elastic elements (6) and corresponding seats (7) for blocking the sides (1a, 1b) in the closed position of the holder (1) as well as further elastic elements (5) and further corresponding seats (8) for connecting and packing two or more holders placed side by side or for connecting one or more holders to a fixed supporting structure.
