Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided by which a radio communication device with multi-watch receivers improves the comprehension of a high-priority message when the high-priority message is overlapped in time with a normal-priority message. A first receiver of the radio communication device receives a first incoming message over a first channel, and a second receiver of the radio communication device receives a second incoming message over a second channel. The radio communication device, upon receiving the first and second incoming messages, detects that a portion of the first incoming message overlaps in time with a portion of the second incoming message. The radio communication device further determines whether at least one of the first or the second incoming message is a high-priority message and repeats the determined high-priority message when at least one of the first or second incoming messages is a high-priority message.

In one embodiment, a method of operating a telecommunication system comprises accepting a telephone call from a caller to an access number; determining a geographical location of a callee; presenting the caller with one or more advertisements from an advertisement set, wherein the one or more advertisements are chosen from the advertisement set based on at least the geographical location of the callee; and facilitating a connection between the caller and the callee after beginning to present the caller with the one or more advertisements. Additional embodiments are disclosed herein.

A network termination unit (20) for connection to a telephone line (12, 14) at a predetermined demarcation point thereof for sequentially simulating a plurality of fault conditions to allow a diagnostic routine to be performed on the telephone line at a remote location from the demarcation point. The network termination unit (20) comprises a plurality of semiconductor switches (34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 43) electrically connected to conductors of the telephone line to establish a network of electrical paths capable of altering the electrical condition of the telephone line when caused to assume a state of conduction. A logic module (32) causes the switches to assume either a closed or an opened condition in accordance with a predetermined sequence established by a hard-wired program.

A system, method, and computer program product for dynamically adapting selections in an automatic phone support system is described. The invention may integrate a dynamic knowledge base of responses with the menu selections [306] on an automatic phone system or other response system to present the most frequently used items earlier in the option list [308], or otherwise order options [314] and information. Call data may be captured from single callers or historical ensembles of callers. An automatically generated similarity relationship may be used to initialize the system without historical call data, based on textual similarity or other techniques [310]. Prioritization of options [316] provides a more enjoyable, efficient experience for callers without increasing administrative overhead.

A general intelectual click-to-dial method and the software structure thereof, the software structure is installed in the user's PC, including: a configuration module for configuring the default format of a telephone number; a number acquiring module for monitoring and determining whether a user clicks the content of a text; number analysis module for determination whether the clicked content of a text is an available telephone number according to the default format of a telephone number given by the configuration module, in the case when the clicked contentof a text is an available telephone number, providing the user an access of click-to-dial; a dialing module for making a click-to-dial message, and sending the dialing message to the click-to-dial server. The present invention totally breaks the restriction of prior click-to-dial art, and not only suitable for the case when the telephone number embedded in the Web page, but also suitable for the case when the telephone number is embedded in the electronic text based on any kind of text. The present invention provides applications of high additional value to the enterprise application IP Centrex or IP PBX of VoIP.
