    Abstract: PURPOSE: Inert gas additive is utilized in the catalytic oxidation of benzene with nitrous oxide to produce phenol in order to prevent excessive exothermic temperature increases and to render gaseous mixtures throughout the process non-flammable. CONSTITUTION: A mixture comprises nitrous oxide, an aromatic compound, which is benzene, having at least one substitutive hydrogen atom on the aromatic ring, and an inert gas, the molar ratio of nitrous oxide to aromatic compound being less than 0.5, and the molar ratio of nitrous oxide to inert gas being sufficiently low, not exceeding 0.25, such that the nitrous oxide and inert gas mix is incapable of forming a flammable mix with the aromatic compound.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: A chitosan-containing acrylic fiber, which is effective for all bacteria and does not deactivate antibacterial and deodorizing effects by post processing such as dyeing, bleaching, treatment for flexibility and the like of fiber and prevents degeneration of antimicrobial and deodorizing effects caused by common treatments such as washing and ironing and does not produce harmful substance in the whole process from production to scrapping, and a process for preparing thereof are provided. CONSTITUTION: The chitosan-containing acrylic fiber contains chitosan which is dispersed into the fiber in a fine particle state and the average diameter calculated as an equivalent circle of the cross section of fiber is 1-100 nanometers and the average shape factor is 100-300 and it's standard deviation is not less than 150 nanometers and the total chitosan content is 0.05-2 wt.% and the ex tractable chitosan is more than 0.03 wt.% and the difference between the total chitosan content and the ex tractable chitosan content is 0.03-0.8 wt.%. The process comprises steps of: (i) subjecting an acrylonitrile polymer solution to wet spinning to obtain wet-swollen acrylic fiber; (ii) immersing thin silk of the wet-swollen acrylic fiber in chitosan acidic aqueous solution; (iii) drying the thin silk of the wet-swollen acrylic fiber to thicken.
