Abstract: Methods of operating embossed card package production system (10) by verifying by leading and comparing information obtained by reading embossed (32) and magnetically encoded information (35) and coded information (27) on a carrier (26A, 26B) stored card and carrier information in a forms data memory (44) and a card data memory (40) to make new cards appropriately prepared and are correctly matched to the carriers (26A, 26B). Incorrect cards (30) are sent to a reject location (90) to prevent formation of incorrect packages. Only cards (30) which are determined to be correctly prepared have activation labels (21) applied which also serve to distinguish them from incorrectly prepared cards (30) and inventory reports are automatically kept of rejected carriers, rejected cards and the number of labels as well as the number of correct carriers produced which are printed on the very type of carrier to which the accounting information relates with a carrier printer (48). Multiple types of bar codes (22) are identified and decoded automatically.

Abstract: A card package production system ( 10 ) with interchangeable inserters ( 24 A, 24 B) and carrier folders ( 86 A, 86 B) to enable use of forms ( 26 A, 26 B) of different types verifies the carriers ( 30 ) if they are properly produced and rejects them if they are not prior to the attachment to a carrier. The embossed characters and encoding read from the card are compared with the stored card data to verify accuracy and are compared to coding on the carrier form ( 26 A, 26 B) to determine if there is a match. A code on the carrier is also compared to stored carrier data and to the cards provided for insertion and are rejected without cards if incorrectly prepared.

Abstract: Single-sheet, multi-panel carriers for receiving and retaining credit cards during credit card issue and mailing procedures. Cards may be inserted in the carriers manually or by machine. Plural carrier forms are preferably provided in a continuous fan-folded web, and individual carriers are separable therefrom at perforations between subsequent and/or adjacent carriers. Apertures for pin drive or indexing mechanisms may be provided, optionally in removable strips along one or more margins of the carrier. The carriers have special slits or slots for retaining one to four cards singly, or double that in a piggy-back manner, in vertical or horizontal configurations. Carriers also have a plurality of panels which assist in retaining the cards by wedge trapping during manual or machine issue processing (inserting, collating, verification and stuffing) and mailing operations. Carriers also carry verification and/or identification information thereon relating to the account, e.g., name, number of cards, account(s) number(s), credit limit, address, debit usage criteria, and the like, in one or more forms which may be read visually, electro-optically, mechanically, optically, electromechanically, magnetically and/or electronically. Carriers are specially adapted for production by sheet-fed glued, or roll-to-fold, high-speed web printing procedure One and two-wide carrier form sets are disclosed. Imprinting of verification and/or identification indicia may be done by any impact or non-impact procedures, e.g., drum, line, or computer-controlled, non-impact, spray-type printers. Tear-out, wallet-sized loss or ID cards are also provided in one embodiment of the carriers. Apparatus for automated scanning of credit cards and carriers, comparing information thereon and inserting the proper number of cards in the proper carrier, folding the carrier, pulling bad accounts, and stuffing in mailing envelopes. Methods of producing the carriers, inserting cards, folding, pulling and stuffing also disclosed.

Abstract: 1361959 Refuse compactors INTERNATIONAL DYNETICS CORP 28 March 1973 [29 March 1972] 14952/73 Heading B8C [Also in Division H2] A refuse compactor has a ram 28 mounted on a cantilever arm 30 for vertical movement in slot 34 on a column 14 extending from a base 10 to which a steel container 16 is fixed, the ram entering a bag B supported in the container to compress the refuse. Container 16 is in two halves, 18, 22 hinged at 26 to permit removal of the loaded bag B. The empty bag is held open by a detachable liner 52 of heavy plastics. Arm 30 extends from a housing 32 which is vertically movable within column 14 by means of a captive threaded nut 80 on threaded shaft 54. As shaft 54 is rotated by an electric motor (not shown), nut 80 carries housing 32 down until arm 30 actuates a limit switch LS3 which reverses the motor until switch LS2 is actuated to stop the motor (see Division H2). In another embodiment, container 16 is carried on wheeled base which is removably placed to overlay base 10.

Abstract: A waste compactor comprising a longitudinally extending compaction chamber, having a discharge opening at its leading end and a feed opening at its trailing end. A chute communicating with the feed opening is provided by which delivery of refuse may be made to the chamber. A horizontally moveable ram is mounted to the rear of the trailing end of the chamber and is reciprocably moveable from a first position forward of the feed opening to a second retracted position to the rear of the feedopening, thereby to successively move the refuse toward the discharge opening. At least a portion of the compression chamber located between the feed and discharge openings is provided with a plurality of elongated flutes extending substantially along the path of movement of the refuse and radially extending through the inner surface of the chamber toward the center thereof.
