The invention provides a porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) replicon having at least some of its original PRRSV nucleic acid deleted, said replicon capable of in vivo RNA replication, said replicon further having been deprived of at least some of its original PRRSV nucleic acid and/or having been supplemented with nucleic acid derived from a heterologous micro-organism.

Abstract: The present invention provides methods for producing a nucleic acid fingerprint as well as methods for detecting sequence polymorphisms between one or more genomes. The methods involve: (a) fragmenting a nucleic acid int o nucleic acid fragments with ends that are compatible to ligation with at lea st one adapter, (b) performing a ligation reaction between the compatible ends of the nucleic acid fragments and at least one adapter, (c) amplifying the nucleic acid fragments by using at least one amplification primer, and (d) generating a nucleic acid fingerprint from the amplified fragments. A method according to the present invention permits high-resolution fingerprinting while maintaining stringency in a PCR reaction. In another aspect, the invention also provides a kit for preparing nucleic acid fingerprints according to methods of the invention.

Abstract: The present invention relates to nucleic acid sequences encoding Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis proteins, to parts of such nucleic acid sequences that encode an immunogenic fragment of such proteins, to DNA fragments, recombinant DNA molecules, live recombinant carriers and host cells comprising such nucleic acid sequences or such parts thereof. The invention also relates to Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis proteins and immunogenic parts thereof encoded by such sequences.
