Abstract:
A home gateway apparatus receives a request for desired contents from a program selection terminal storing a program guide at a home. When an IP packet addressed to a home network from the Internet is retrieved, it is checked whether the retrieved IP packet includes the desired contents, a reception of which is being requested. When the IP packet includes the desired contents, such contents are delivered to a TV apparatus via IEEE1394 network. When the IP packet does not include such contents, the IP packet is forwarded to other destination terminals in the home network.
Abstract:
Transmission data is generated through a conversion process in which character string data attached to e-mail is matched with a character set type that can be processed by a destination terminal apparatus. In addition, character string data of set phrases that are generated by using character sets that are standard in each plurality of language types is stored in a language-based set phrase memory. By selecting a set phrase registered in the language-based set phrase memory, based on a language type that is set by the destination terminal apparatus, transmission data is generated in accordance with the character string data. Capability information in relation to a character set type and language type is either obtained from MDN data within a response mail to be stored in an address-based terminal capability memory, or obtained via a communication process in accordance with an ESMTP step.
Abstract:
A multifunctional machine is provided that includes a receiver that receives a binary communication image, an input section that inputs a copy image, and a recording section that records the communication image and the copy image. The multifunctional machine further includes a first processing section that performs image processing on the binary communication image for recording by the recording section, a second processing section that converts a binary copy image into a multilevel copy image, the second processing section performing image processing on the converted multilevel copy image for recording by the recording section, and a switching section that determines whether the binary communication data has a predetermined resolution. When the switching section determines that the binary communication image has the predetermined resolution, the second processing section further converts the binary communication image into a multilevel communication image and performs the image processing on the converted multilevel communication image.
Abstract:
A communication control method detects whether an opposing apparatus is capable of performing an abbreviated procedure during a handshake step, declares an initiation of the abbreviated procedure if the opposing apparatus is capable of performing the abbreviated procedure, omits a negotiation prior to transmitting a MEDLEY signal, allows a remote side to transmit capacity information and reception result once to a center side after exchanging the MEDLEY signal, and further allows the center side to transmit the final capacity and transmission speed information to the remote side, in order to complete the initialization sequence.
Abstract:
A backup gateway apparatus is provided in a home network, connected parallel to a gateway apparatus. The backup gateway apparatus detects when the gateway apparatus is malfunctioning. During the period when the gateway apparatus is malfunctioning, the backup gateway apparatus performs a partial backup function to maintain communication paths with outside lines, on behalf of the gateway apparatus.
Abstract:
An e-mail communication apparatus connected an administrator via a network includes a receiver that receives e-mail from a sender over the network and a detector that detects whether or not the received e-mail can be handled, based upon whether the e-mail can be opened in the e-mail communication apparatus. A printer prints the received e-mail when the detector detects that the e-mail can be handled in e-mail communication apparatus and a transmitter transmits a notice e-mail to the administrator when the detector detects that the e-mail cannot be handled in e-mail communication apparatus. The receiver, the detector and the printer are integrated in the e-mail communication apparatus.
Abstract:
In the present invention, the an electronic mail transmission terminal device encrypts an electronic mail and transmits the encrypted mail. An electronic mail server device, when the encrypted mail is received, transmits a reception notification mail, which notifies reception of the encrypted mail, to an electronic mail reception terminal device in which a receiver of the encrypted mail is stored. An electronic reception terminal device, when the reception notification mail is received from the electronic mail server device, indicates reception of the encrypted mail to the receiver, requests electronic mail server device to transmit the encrypted mail after performing personal authentication of the receiver. Further, the electronic reception terminal device decrypts the encrypted mail.
Abstract:
A data communication apparatus such as a facsimile apparatus having an automatic telephone message recording function, having a common memory for storing video and audio data that have been received or are to be transmitted, enables selection of a method of memory management whereby the memory space is divided at a boundary address into two regions which respectively store video data and audio data and a method whereby the memory space is not so divided, but the video data and audio data are written into addresses which successively increase from respectively opposite ends of the memory space. Remaining amounts of memory capacity which can be used to store video and/or audio data can be displayed as respective numbers of standard document pages and telephone calls, the latter representing standard-duration recording intervals. In addition, a boundary address setting mode can be established in which the respective sizes of the video and audio regions for respectively different boundary address values are displayed as numbers of standard document pages and telephone calls.
Abstract:
A user information registration program 68 of PC3 obtains current time from a built-in timer. Sequentially, the user information registration program 68 extracts one registration destination information from a registration destination table. The user information registration program 68 calculates lease end time from the sum of lease period and registration response reception time in extracted registration destination information and compares the calculation result with current time. If current time exceeds lease end time, the user information registration program 68 adds the IP address of network scanner 2 relating to the current registration destination to a response table 120. Sequentially, user information of PC3 is registered to the network scanner 2 (registration destination). The user information registration program 68 registers new user information to all registration destinations (network scanners 2) registered in the registration destination table.
Abstract:
A communication apparatus receives an electronic mail. The apparatus comprises a mail reception section for receiving an electronic mail via a network, and a program data extraction section that extracts program data from said electronic mail. A data storage section that stores the extracted data is also provided.
