Abstract:
Novel synthetic elastomer and/or natural rubber-based adhesive liquid coatings adapted for use as a primer coating for pipelines, which coatings include an amphipathic metal complexing reagent in an amount effective to provide protection against cathodic disbondment; and novel protective pipewrap systems including same.
Abstract:
Novel systems for bonding a polyarylate substrate to another polyarylate substrate or to a polycarbonate substrate, at least one of the substrates being transparent, employing a visible light curable adhesive composition consisting essentially of:
(1) at least one member of the group consisting of monofunctional acrylic monomers, polyfunctional acrylic monomers, and polyfunctional polyester acrylate oligomers; (2) N-vinyl pyrrolidone; (3) at least one low molecular weight aliphatic urethane acrylate polymer; and (4) a catalyst or photoinitiator activatable by visible light.
The invention is particularly directed to the bonding of component parts of automotive headlamp assemblies, at least one component of which comprises a polyarylate.
Abstract:
Novel compositions for topical application of a water-insoluble bioactive reagent, e.g. a pesticide, comprising an aqueous emulsion of a polymer swellable by the sebum and other "skin oils" and which will agglomerate or coagulate near the skin, the polymer having the bioactive agent encapsulated or dispersed therein; and novel methods employing the same for controlled release of the bioactive reagent over an extended period of time.
Abstract:
The invention concerns how the loop portion of a VELCRO fastener can be RF welded to a compression sleeve or other similar article. By using a simpler two-step method, in which the loop portion is provided with a backing laminated thereto, both labor and material costs have been reduced over the prior art five-step method.
Abstract:
A conformable adhesive tape comprising a crosslinkable chlorinated polymeric backing carrying on one surface thereof a crosslinkable pressure sensitive adhesive layer, said backing layer being crosslinked whereby said backing layer is characterized as being high temperature resistant, said backing layer further being characterized as being conformable at high temperature; said adhesive layer also being crosslinked whereby to substantially increase its resistance to shear at high temperature; and a process for making same.
Abstract:
A pressure generating device (10) for applying compressive pressures against a patient's limb (12) through means of a flexible, pressurizable sleeve (28) which encloses the limb (12) having a means for automatically adjusting pressure within the sleeve to maintain a preselected pressure applied to the limb. The device has a pressure transducer (34) and a controller (16) which generates electrical signals in response to signals from the transducer (34) that operate a flow control valve (44) to control the flow of fluid to the pressure chamber of the sleeve (28).
