Abstract: A liquid chemical solution is mixed into a second liquid in a mixing apparatus(34). An annular flow of white water is formed in the mixer through flange(52). A retention chemical solution is fed tangentially into the mixer to give a spiraling chemical flow that is guided inside the annular flow of the white water. The chemical is allowed to mix with the white water and is then fed into a pulp suspension stock flow traveling towards a papermaking machine headbox. An independent claim is included for: apparatus for mixing a liquid chemical solution into another liquid using the method detailed above. Preferred Features: - Use of a third fluid flow inside the spiral feed chemical flow is disclosed as is the use of a range of different liquids. The retention chemical is at least partly a polymeric chain. Various configurations for the mixer(34) are detailed as are means to regulate some or all of the liquid flows.
