CONSTITUTION: A duplexer(400) transfers a received signal to an RF receiver(402). The RF receiver converts the received signal into a baseband analog signal. An ADC(Analog to Digital Converter)(404) converts the analog signal into sample data. An OFDM demodulator(406) outputs data of a frequency domain. A decoder selects data of sub carriers which a user wants to receive.

CONSTITUTION: A terminal decides whether or not a paging indicator is set up(312). Information for an uplink band allocated to a mobile terminal is received from the base station(203). A first message, which requests connection for providing an emergency service, is transmitted by using the uplink band.

A device and a method for offering an emergency service in a communication system are provided to enhance total system service performance by offering the emergency service in an IEEE(The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) 802.16 communication. A broadcasting message including information about a time point for transmitting an emergency service message is received from a base station in a state shifted to a wakeup state from a paging listening section in an idle mode. When the time point for transmitting the emergency service message is later than the time point for finishing the paging listening section, the state of a mobile terminal is controlled until the emergency service message is terminated after reception of the broadcasting message. The mobile terminal is shifted to the wakeup state at the time point for transmitting the emergency service message.
