Abstract: A broadcasting receiver and a channel changing method thereof are provided to apply to communication with a remote controller regardless of a sleep mode of the remote controller by monitoring a channel state and requesting channel change. A channel changer(181) monitors a state of a channel applying to communication with a remote controller and sets up a new channel based on energy of the monitored channel. A transceiver(183) transmits a channel change request message for requesting channel change to the new channel.
