PURPOSE: An automatic detection method of a mid-sagittal plane using an ultrasonic image and a device using the same are provided to supply the internal image of an object to a doctor in real time, and thereby the doctor is capable of examining the state of a fetus accurately. CONSTITUTION: At least one ultrasonic image is obtained (S610). The face of an object is detected in the ultrasonic image (S620). At least one landmark is detected in the detected face (S630). Landmark information is detected which includes at least one of the brightness and shape of the landmark (S640). A mid-sagittal plane is detected using the landmark information (S650). PURPOSE: An image processing method and an image processing apparatus are provided to easily read a closed area in reading a radiation image and accurately extract a closed area except for a respiratory tract. CONSTITUTION: A chest image is photographed(110). A respiratory tract is extracted by using pixel values within a specific area of an input image. A pixel value corresponding to the respiratory tract is controlled in the input image(120). A boundary of a lung area is extracted(130). A boundary of the extracted closed area is planarized(140).

PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for generating a bit stream based on a syntax element are provided to facilitate the storage and transmission of media data by compressing media through various encoding methods. CONSTITUTION: An encoding unit(110) generates image data including the data for syntax elements, and a grouping unit(120) groups the generated image data according to the kinds of syntax elements. A bit-stream generation unit(130) arranges the bit-stream of the image data in order. After the arrangement in order, the bit-stream generation unit adds a header to each group including information on the position of the header of the group.

PURPOSE: A method for video encoding and decoding considering hierarchical coded block pattern is provided to notify whether the textual information of the encoding unit was encoded or not in consideration of hierarchicals depth. CONSTITUTION: A video decoding method comprises a step(1210) in which bitstream about a encoded video is received and performed parsing, and a step(1220) for extracting encoded video data of the picture allocated in the maximum encoding unit, information about the maximum encoding unit coding depth and encoding mode, and pattern information which shows whether the textual information of the maximum encoding unit was encoded or not, and a step(1230) for decoding a encoded video data by the maximum encoding unit depth, and encoding mode information.

PURPOSE: A multimedia encoding method based on a contents characteristic of multimedia and an apparatus thereof are provided to supply various information about MPEG-7 image sub encoding method to a user. CONSTITUTION: A multimedia encoding method based on a contents characteristic of multimedia includes an input unit(110), a characteristic information detection unit(120), an encoding method determining unit(130), and a multimedia data coder(140). The input unit outputs the multimedia data coder multimedia data to the characteristic information detection unit. The characteristic information detection unit detects the characteristic information and analyzes inputted multimedia data. The coded system decision unit determines the coded system based on the characteristic of a multimedia.
