PURPOSE: A display device and a driving method thereof are provided to indicate an image by selecting a unit pixel according to time-out. CONSTITUTION: A backlight unit(300) creates light and irradiates the light. A display panel(100) comprises a plurality of unit pixels. The display panel indicates a first image by using the light which is irradiated from the backlight unit. A panel driving unit(200) establishes a unit pixel group which is different with total pixel amounts of the first image. The panel driving unit diversifies each pixel value of the first image and applies to the unit pixel. The panel driving unit differently selects the unit pixel among the unit pixel groups according to time-out and drives the unit pixel. One unit pixel group comprises a first sub group and a second sub group.

PURPOSE: A display device and an object moving method thereof are provided to maintain dragging by calculating a coordinate value through a touch sensing unit. CONSTITUTION: A display unit(150) displays an object. A nearing sensing unit(120) senses nearing input to the display unit. A touch sensing unit(110) senses touch input to the display unit. A coordinate value calculating unit(130) calculates coordinate values corresponding to nearing input. A controller(140) controls the display unit in order to move the object to the calculated coordinate values.

A method and an apparatus for enhancing contrast are provided to divide an input image into a plurality of blocks and scan the entire block once, thereby removing limitation of memory and performing time. An image is divided into a plurality of blocks and an average luminance value is calculated(S102). A surrounding luminance value is interpolated per an input pixel of the image by using the average luminance value(S103). Contrast of the input pixel is improved by using the surrounding luminance value of the interpolated input pixel and a characteristic luminance value of the input pixel(S105).

A method and an apparatus for compensating a shadow area are provided to increase luminance by reflecting the luminance of corresponding pixels and the luminance of a neighboring area, thereby obtaining a clear image. A method for compensating a shadow area comprises the following steps of: calculating a representative luminance by reflecting the luminance of pixels with image information and pixels around the pixels(S140); determining a compensated luminance ratio by using the calculated representative luminance(S155); and increasing output luminance by the compensated luminance ratio(S170). The compensated luminance ratio is decreased as the representative luminance increases.

A multi focus camera apparatus and a method for generating a focus-free image and an out-of-focus image using the same are provided to enable an image sensor unit to convert light passing through each lens at each of sensing areas into an electric signal to obtain plural images, thereby increasing DOF(Depth Of Focus). A lens unit(110) includes plural lenses for concentrating incident light. An image sensor unit(120) has plural sensing areas in correspondence with the plural lenses and converts light, passing through each lens at each sensing area, into an electric signal to obtain plural images. An angle of view correcting unit(130) performs a correction operation so that the obtained plural images can have the same size. Each lens has the same optical characteristic, has different distance from the sensing area, and processes the corrected plural images to generate a single image.

An image processing apparatus for improving the visibility of a displayed image and a method therefor are provided to improve the brightness and contrast of an image according to brightness information of external light, correct chroma, and secure the visibility. An illuminance sensor(120) senses the brightness of external light. A model storing unit(130) stores a luminance-contrast model curve indicating the optimum contrast value for a specific luminance according to the brightness of the external light. A luminance calculating unit(140) calculates a luminance value of an input image. A contrast calculating unit(150) calculates a contrast value of the input image. A luminance-contrast adjusting unit(160) determines a target luminance value to be changed according to the sensed brightness of the external light, obtains a contrast value corresponding to the target luminance value by referring to the luminance-contrast model curve corresponding to the sensed brightness of the external light, and adjusts the calculated luminance value and the calculated contrast value to allow the input image to have the target luminance value and the obtained contrast value. A chroma adjusting unit(170) adjusts a chroma of the input image according to the target luminance value and the obtained contrast value.
