광학요소및 이를포함하는정보저장장치에관해개시되어있다. 개시된광학요소는원편광을플라즈몬(plasmon)으로변환하여전송하는광도파로구조체를포함할수 있다. 상기광도파로구조체는원편광된플라즈모닉필드(circularly polarized plasmonic field)를출사할수 있다. 상기광학요소는정보저장장치에적용될수 있다. 예컨대, 상기정보저장장치는기록매체및 상기기록매체에정보를기록하기위한기록수단을포함할수 있고, 상기기록수단은상기광학요소를포함할수 있다. 상기광학요소에서발생되는원편광된플라즈모닉필드를이용해서상기기록매체에정보를기록할수 있다.

A visual/aural multi-segment display apparatus comprises: a directional display unit for displaying different image information on a plurality of positions; a directional speaker unit for propagating different auditory information to the positions; and a central control unit for controlling the image information from the directional display unit and the auditory information from the directional speaker unit to head the corresponding positions, respectively.
Abstract:
An apparatus for processing an image and a method therefor are disclosed. The apparatus for processing an image according to the present invention includes: a reception unit which receives an image; a display unit which displays the received image; an extraction unit which extracts a first object contour by applying a preset algorithm to an area which is designated by a user in the displayed image and extracts a second object contour based on the designated area; an image analysis unit which analyzes the displayed image; and a control unit which determines weighted values for the first and second object contours based on the analysis performed by the image analysis unit and extracts an object contour based on the first and second object contours to which the determined weighted values are applied. As a result, a user can extract an object which a user wants even from an image with serious noise using the apparatus for processing an image. PURPOSE: An acousto-optic device including a nanostructure, and an optical scanner using the acousto-optic device, a light modulator using the acousto-optic device and a display apparatus using the acousto-optic device are provided to extend the diffraction angle of output light by using the strong anisotropic refractive index of an apex. CONSTITUTION: An optical wave guide(12) guides incident light. A metal layer(14) surrounds the upper part of the optical wave guide. A gain medium layer(13) is arranged in the upper part of the optical wave guide. A sonic wave generator generates surface acoustic wave. The sonic wave generator supplies the surface acoustic wave to the optical wave guide.

PURPOSE: A memory device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to improve information retention characteristics by forming a plurality of recording layers of nanometer size in order to not be each other influenced. CONSTITUTION: A bottom electrode(11) is formed on a substrate(10). A plurality of information storage units(12) is formed on the bottom electrode. The plurality of information storage units comprises a plurality of information storage layers(12a,12b). The plurality of information storage units is mutually separated. The plurality of information storage units is comprised of ferroelectric material, ferromagnetic material, or anti-ferromagnetic material. An insulating layer is formed on the bottom electrode and the plurality of information storage units. The insulating layer is comprised of a low-k dielectric in which dielectric constant is lower than SiO2.

PURPOSE: An optical element and an information storage device with the same are provided to reduce the size of an optical spot, thereby increasing recording density and performance. CONSTITUTION: A light source(100) generates circularly polarized light. An optical waveguide structure(200) converts the circularly polarized light into a plasmon and transmits the plasmon. The optical waveguide structure emits a circularly polarized plasmonic field(P1). The optical waveguide structure includes metal and a dielectric object which contacts the metal. The plasmon is transmitted through an interface between the metal and the dielectric object. The optical waveguide structure has a ring structure.

PURPOSE: A light modulator and an optical device using the same are provided to improve optical performance by changing plasmon resonance characteristics of a nano antenna according to the change of a refractive index of a refractive index change layer. CONSTITUTION: A refractive index change layer(R10) is arranged to be contiguous to a nano antenna. The refractive index change layer comprises electro-optical material and transparent conductive material. A refractive index change means changes a refractive index of the refractive index change layer. The refractive index change layer is sandwiched in between a first electrode(E10) and a second electrode(E20). A voltage applying means(V1) applies a voltage between the first electrode and the second electrode. The refractive index change layer contacts to the first electrode.

PURPOSE: An electrode catalyst for a fuel cell membrane-electrode assembly is provided to have high hydrogen oxidation activity by the rise of catalyst components and a synergy between palladium and tungsten carbide without using a platinum catalyst of high cost. CONSTITUTION: An electrode catalyst for a fuel cell membrane-electrode assembly comprises tungsten carbide and catalyst component. The catalyst component comprises Pd and another metal catalyst component. The another metal component is one or more mixtures selected from a group consisting of Ni, Ir, Co, Mn, Au, Fe, and Ag. The tungsten carbide has the specific surface area of 10-30 m/g. The content of the tungsten carbide is 60-95 weight% on the basis of total weight of the catalyst. The content of the catalyst component is 5-40 weight%.
